Okay so I used BreakDroid to root my HTC incredible and it did work. Well, I think. I have the superuser icon but when I checked my hboot screen it had s-on. I am wondering if I my phone is rooted or how do I get the s-on to s-off???????????????????????????????

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!
moved you over to the htc incredible root forum. folks here should be able to help you out.

As far as I know, break droid doesn't even work with the incredible. This is the only known method to achieve root and s-off on the original htc incredible:

Yes, you are correct. I did the breakdroid and went through the steps and it seems to be rooted but then shut off and wiped everything off. So now that im at factory settings.....Is the link you provided for mac osx? bc i tried for awhile many options and I never could open the links like unrevoked, I cant get past the opening the .dmg file bc I have osx.

Yes, there is a link to Unrevoked for mac too.

Yes, there is a link on unrevoked but it does not open on mac osx. its called reflash.dmg and anytime you try to open it, it will say can't recognize.
You can't get this file to open:

http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.22/Reflash.dmg ?
I believe you need to be logged in as an administrator.
If you can, then you'd follow he steps here:

If you can't get that to work, the zergrush method will work for you. (You'd install adb as described in the link to post 629)

Yes, that is the link that I can not get to open because it is a windows file. I probably could use wine bottler but that could get confusing. So, I will try the zergrush method and I hope it works because I was an idiot and didn't back up my phone so I have nothing and all I wanna do now is root it.

A DMG file is for Mac.... Exe is for windows

Okay the spot I get stuck on is that I try to open the reflash that I downloaded. I try to open it and the a little box labeled warning comes up and says Reflash (3)-1.dmg is not recognized. I have no clue what to do or if this is what Im suppose to be doing. Help please.

There should be a way to click through the warning. The warning is probably just telling you that the file is from an unrecognized developer. Make sure you are logged in as an administrator too.

If you can't get the file to work, then you will either have to get access to a windows or Linux pc, or use the zergrush method in post 2.
