Help Not enough memory?

First time smartphone owner so my apologies in advance for asking some very basic questions.

Mac owner with itunes that has 10 GB of music loaded on it.

The phone is recently purchased a month ago and has some pictures on it, some important notes, contacts, some apps I downloaded and launcher pro.

Q: Thinking I

Phone memory is built in, so most of the functionality of the phone is stored in that memory. That way if you were to take the SD card out, your phone would still work. The card memory is specifically meant for that which you are enquiring about.... music, games, pictures, videos, etc... So by all means if you want to swap out for a bigger SD card then go for it. It's quite simple, all you'll need to do is copy everything from your SD card onto a computer. Then when you stick your new SD card into the phone, copy that stuff back onto your new card.

If you buy the new SD card down at your local Verizon store they will probably do the transfer for you. However you will find MUCH better deals on memory cards just about anywhere else. Good luck!

Put your apps in the phone memory, don't install to sd. No reason too. The 16 gig card provided should hold you over for a few more gigs then what you have. The phone +sd card is 24 gigs.

Thanks, that clears things up a bit.

Perhaps I should have expanded further on what I

Do you have to move the apps over to phone memory or does the phone put all your apps by default into it (both ones that came with the phone and ones you download)?

By default all your apps are installed on your phone memory. You should leave it that way since the X provides you with 8gb which is plenty for storing apps.

Your SD card is for storing files you upload/download. So, if you put 10gb of music on it, it will leave you with 6bg (well slightly less than 6) for everything else. That's plenty for pictures and ringtones, but it's not that much for full length movies or long videos.

When you connect your phone to the computer, you are only accessing what's on your SD card. If you plan to get a new SD card, all you have to do is copy what you want from it and place it on your new SD card. The SD card doesn't contain any files that is needed for apps/phone operations.

Got it. Thanks.

By chance, is there an app out there that will transfer all my music AND artwork to my X?

Also, I'm going to guess that you can't load itunes on a Droid so what music player is considered a to be good/best?

are you trying to do a file transfer, or a sync of your music and artwork? a file transfer is as simple as removing the SD card and putting it into your computer and copying them over.

i prefer poweramp as a music player.

I'm hoping to move ALL my music AND artwork over in one fell swoop.

The easiest way possible non WiFi.

Also, I want to keep the same music on my Mac so I have it there as well.

I'll use my ipod and/or computer while at home and take one device (droid) while away.

What do you suggest?

it *sounds* like you still want a folder sync

there are apps to do that on the X, but I haven't messed with them because I don't sync to my computer at all.
