Help Not showing up in Device Manager

Newbie
Hello everyone,

I am having trouble having my Nexus 7 (2013) viewable on my PC. I have read a bunch of threads on this, but nothing has seemed to help. Here are the supposed causes, and what I have tried.

1. USB cable is charge only - My LG phone shows up as a drive using the same cable.

2. Install Google USB drivers - Nexus does not show up on Device Manager anywhere

3. Uninstall all Android drivers, then plug it in - I used USBDeview and uninstalled anything with Google, Android, or Nexus. Then when I plugged it in, I get what is in image 1.

4. Tablet is busted and won't show up - When i plug it into another PC, it shows up fine. Just not this one.

Can someone help me figure out what is going on, or at least allow it to show up in my device manager. I have run out of ideas. Thank you.

Rather than look for it in Device Manager, look for it in Windows Explorer. If it connects properly it will show up following the drives under Computer and under any mapped network drives and will show as Nexus 7.

Mine recently stopped showing up in windows file manager. It shows up in device manager fine. It used to show up. I also uninstalled all drivers and plugged back in and let it install them again in all modes ; usb debugging on and off also mtp and ptp. Nothing. I can only transfer file through WiFi now, its a bit slower than direct usb.

After installing all the drivers you need to reboot the PC/laptop to kill all background process and to load drivers on next boot . try to reboot post back if any help is needed

It does not show up in explorer. I opened the properties of the driver that is visible in USBDeview, and took a screenshot of it and attached it. Does that help at all?

I am not familiar with USBDeview, so no help. I just checked mine and it does show up in Device Manager under Portable Devices, as well as showing up as previously described in Windows Explorer. I also looked for a place to describe what happens when you connect it to a computer, but found nothing like that. My phone does have a Connect to PC setting, but that's an older version of Android. Sorry I can't help.

Finally got mine to show up. Took about 4 times uninstalling drivers (with deview) and plugging in and reinstalling. 4th time was the charm. Soon as it installed the last time it showed right up. Tick and untick mtp, letting it install drivers with each, then tick USB debugging and do it again (tick and untick mtp) then untick USB debugging and try do it once more. If it still does not show up, use deview to uninstall and do it all again.

All I've ever had to do was toggle mtp and wait a minute, then toggle back.

In my head, I equate this with toggling airplane mode to cure internet connection grief.

Still trying to remember where that damn option is hidden... my phone menu is different.
(Nearly threw out a good laptop before I found it)

I definitely did all that. Numerous times. Toggled mtp, installed drivers, waited an hour. Toggled back, waited. Toggled USB debugging on and off with mtp on and off. Took about 4 times uninstalling and reinstalling all drivers then it finally said it recognized and showed up.
Mtp is in settings/storage then tap the three dot menu button in upper right corner.
