Note 2 Size Comments?

I'm coming from a S2 with a ballistic case so the note is only a 1/2" taller (?).
I used to own a number of PDA's that were the size of the Note 2. (Sony TH55) I loved them! Also for my older eyes the Note makes a real difference.
As for carrying, it fits my shirt pocket well, being thin really helps. It also fits my back pocket of my jeans. :o
I'm a happy camper. But I WILL not go bigger! I have my tablet for that. The Note 2 is the "phone" size limit! ;)

Lateck,

Last PDA I had was the Palm Tungsten T|3. Positively loved that thing until I gave it away to my sister. I'm truly enjoying this circle of life.....I mean technology. Back then those devices were all that and then some. It was nothing to pull out the stylus and get to working which is what kept me getting every Treo that came out.

I feel like the Note 2 has bought me back home. :D

When I first got my phone, everyone at work was giving me crap over my new "iPad mini", then I showed them what all it can do, and now at least 1 of them is considering getting one for themselves. Haha. While yes, this is a HUGE phone, it's not nearly big enough to cause any trouble. I've been on a few phone calls, none of them very long, and it does feel a little goofy holding it to your face at first, but I think I'll live. It fits entirely in all my pants without issue.

Since I've gotten this phone I see more people with the Note 1. Before I could count on one hand how many people I saw with that phone. Seeing mine it's automatically assumed it's the Note 1 until I say it's not.

Funny thing though, I discovered my inner snob.
When I say no, it comes off like I wouldn't be caught dead with the "old note!" :D

What's the difference? :D

The above 1000% reflects my feelings. With my old Palm OS Handera/ TRg Pro - I was never more productive, moved to WinCE for a while pre IPhone. I'll never go back to Microsoft for a Mobile device Ever.

The Galaxy Note 2 will be refreshing as I'm an Electronics Design Engineer and always drawing diagrams. There are a wealth of Android Electronics apps too, looking forward to using a USB OTG adapter and a Gabotronix Xprotolab Oscope using a recent Android scope app.

I know what you mean, haha. I don't really see anyone with the Note 1, and in fact, I hadn't even heard of it until I heard about the Note 2, but everyone I see is like "Oh, that's the Note!" and then I feel like I have to point out it's the new one, even though like you said, it sounds snobish somehow.

I just switched from the original Evo 4G and I absolutely love the Note 2.

I have very small hands as well. I also wear xs gloves. The size has been no problem at all.

Today was the first day I held the device in my hand and I would say its larger than I'm used to coming from the dark side lol. I could def get used to it tho, I wear an extra small in medical gloves so you can kinda tell how small my hands are. I just pre ordered mines and can't wait till its in my hand and I can keep it and not give it back to the TMO lady lol.

I think anyone coming from a 3.5" screen to 5.5" would have a stroke. For them it may take some getting used to since the increase was suddenly massive rather than a gradual increase.

I am coming from a 2.4" screen!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what to do with all this screen....day 3....still taking it all in.

P.S. I am loving it!!!!!!

Personally, I think the problem is that people view this as a 'big phone' when in reality its more of a small tablet. It has all (and in some cases much more) the functionality of a tablet, only its small enough to carry around in your pocket and as a bonus, you can use it to call/text.

Obviously, its going to be more suited to two hand operation, but what tablet isn't? And, even with the need for mostly two handed use, it's far easier to use on the move than a 7" tablet, let alone a 10". I don't view the size as a problem in any way, I was given two hands for a reason and that reason is simply that I can be far more productive in all walks of life by using both of them when performing most tasks.

And if you insist on categorising it as a 'Smart-Phone'... all I'll say is that Smart-Phones are all about having more functionality than a regular phone. With its size, this device gives you more functionality than almost anything out there and surely that is the whole point. If you wanted the convenience of one handed use, and your more interested in convenience than functionality, why have a 'Smart-Phone' in the first place?

I starting to get used to using the Note 2 with one hand for browsing and Tapatalk. I still type with two hands for the speed, but one handed typing with SwiftKey is possible but difficult.

Reaching the back key with my left thumb is the most challenging part of one handed operation.

The fact that they made the WIDTH slimmer than the Note 1 does have a lot to do with it. I say while you're waiting for yours to arrive get to a T-Mobile store and play with one. It's NOT much bigger than my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. A little taller, A little wider. It will fit fine in my pocket, even after I get a Seido extended battery

basically is what the Note 1 and II are. A small tablet that allows you to call/text and still pocketable. Not a phablet, not a tabphone etc. (I hate those terms).

Thanks

I think the size is fine. Some of us might even remember having a phone at home that had a handset about the same size. And all that thing did was make calls. And it was useless if it wasn't jacked into the wall. Another thing I noticed is that at a distance while I was in the TMO store yesterday with a GNote2 in hand, I was still having to second look at people walking around with GS3's in hand. I don't think the size difference is really as much as say, a GNote2 to a N7. I guess if you're always used to a certain fruity brand's phone size, then this thing might be big. :p

I took my OG note on a trip to St.louis with me, and at every single bar people asked what kind of phone I had. I didn't mind it to much until people asked to hold it or check it out . Drunk people and electronics make me nervous.

Well, I've only gotten a chance to tinker around with the Note 2 for about an hour or so but I'm quite pleased with the size of it. Granted, it is big for me coming from an iPhone 4 but I don't think it's as big as all these reviewers are making it out to be. Size wise, I think it's perfect. It fits comfortably enough for me where I can use it one handed without any real issues. Personally, were it a little larger, then I'd be cool with that too (I know....that's what she said) Overall, can't wait to get my hands on MY Note 2 soon

I just picked one up yesterday from a local sprint store and I have to say I absolutely love it. Had the S3 for almost a week and just could not resist anymore. Im happy this phone is just amazing the size and the Spen is so useful and just enhances the whole experience. I have about 3GB of books on my phone and I love that I can read now anywhere i go and not have to log around my tablet anymore. Its worth it!!!

where can we get e books and are they the same as what you can get on kindle?

Now six days into my ownership of the Note2. Believe it or not it gets smaller everyday. I saw an iPhone today and it is so small. What a small screen.

I was getting coffee and while waiting all I could think was the size felt and looked smaller than it did on day one.

I have had mine for 2 weeks and got used to the size after a few days as it isn't a big increment over the Galaxy S3. I have to say though that I went into a phone shop and couldn't believe how tiny the Iphone 5 looked. I would need fingers like a watchmaker to work that thing.

BTW I have just got a new Panasonic cordless house phone and it is exactly the same length as the SGN2 though obviously narrower.

I agree with the earlier comment that after a few days of use the size of this phone becomes trivial and basically disappears as an issue. I came from the Samsung Epic Touch 4 G on Sprint. My wife has the Galaxy s3. This device is huge whenever you use it side by side with those other devices. A couple days of use without handling any of those other devices and this phone is just your phone. The size seems to be trivial. It doesn't seem huge at all. Now, when I use it at a conference table at work and people have not seen it yet their first reaction is oh my god that phone is huge but I lost that personal reaction about the phone within a couple days of using it.

Day 3 of having the phone...Feels normal now, was a little big at first but i still liked it. Now i feel like this is how all phones are. Dug my iPhone 4s out of the drawer just now and held it and it feels like a toy.
