Help Note 2 Storage space?

yeah i brought it new, so don't forget when your explaining me stuff like IMO, factory reset im really all new to android phones so i have no clue what they are, and what they do so when explaining (sorry to ask) but could you go into a little detail in terms of what they are and how i do it? right i have hard reset my phone before which im guessing clears out the hole phone as if it was brand new, which did take me back to how i first brought the phone like i said before however my phone was fine after that it had no problems and i actually thought my phone was back to normal but then it started happening again so that is why i dont really want to do a hard reset if it might come back again.. right pisces said to go onto settings - about device right? so im just going to read you out everything that it says which is from top to bottom;

That info is exactly the same as on my phone. Since mine was bought new and is still on the stock rom, I guess it means that yours is too.

If you do decide to do a Factory (ie a hard) Reset then I strongly recommend you observe the precautions outlined by DonB at post #25 above.

How to do a Factory Reset, using the Android Recovery Console, is described by NeoGrandizer's posts #6 and #16 at the following link.

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/687561-4-1-2-updated-battery-drain.html

Personally, being ultra cautious, I'd remove both SIM and SD cards before doing so.

I used the term Safe Mode in a previous post so, for the sake of completion, you can see how to do that in post #7, by WhiteCollar, at

http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...-2-shuts-off-have-remove-battery-restart.html

The only thing I would add to WhiteCollar's post is that you should release the power button as soon as you get the first Samsung logo. However, you should keep the volume down pressed until the phone has completed its start cycle.

guys another problem has occurred and now i think this really cant be fixed. right.. you know when you switch on your phone and that purple light spins around then 'Samsung' appears basically it keeps doing that litrally, i can't go into anything now it litrally keeps doing this over and over again non stop :
its still doing that up to now, iv tried taking out batt/sim ect restarting but its doing that over and over again, its been like 2 hours and its still doing the same thing. i think i might just send it back to the shop

Agreed.

However, since you should clear your data by doing a reset (from the Android Recovery Console) before returning it, you may as well install the 1TapCleaner cache cleaner as previously suggested. I suggest this because the HR may just possibly cure the problem. If not, the cleaner may expose a rogue app with a runaway cache, as suggested by DonB.

I hope it all works out well for you. Please update us with the outcome.

PS If you send it back to the shop you should first remove the SIM & SD cards.

Alright, will do thank you guys for all your help you all have been great seriously can't thank you guys enough, no one would ever find there time to help me with my phone but you guys helping me and spending your time on trying to help me out really really does mean a lot to me, so thank you a lot :) i'll let you know how it goes and keep you updated , and i will do as you said and take the sim and sd card out :)

I am not familiar with 3, but if they have shops where you are located, I would try to bring it in and have them look at it instead of sending it in. Your issue there is probably because it does not have the resources to boot up anymore, make sure you keep it charging.

Yeah, definitely send it in for diagnosis/repair. You are suffering from what looks like a hardware failure. Either it is the memory controller that is/has failed or the memory chip. The reason you are getting the memory errors is because the system is not recognizing any available memory on the device. You do not have a line that states available memory on the device. The internal storage memory is thus reporting it is full because of this.

Hey guys hope you all are doing well, i just got my phone back! all is working fine (hope it stays that way, *crosses fingers*) just wanted to say, how important is it that the phone gets updated? cause i remember previously i did use to update the systems and aps, but then it then said that my storage was full so i couldnt update it then thats when i hard reset my phone and i stopped doing the updates but yeah , how important is system/ap updates for the phone? what happens if i dont do it? and also, you guys recommended me an app it was Sandisk ap, should i still download it?

Good to hear. App and system updates are sometimes necessary because it could include bug fixes and/or extra features. How important it is would be up to you. Since some updates might fix a previous issue but introduce new issues. This is always a gamble when dealing with software and hardware running it.

Did they mention what exactly was wrong with the phone and what they fixed. Just curious if it was indeed a hardware problem.

Nope they hadn't mentioned anything apart from they reset it, but they done something slightly different from just a 'hard reset' however, i had bad news i have another problem with the phone :( when i connect my phone to my laptop it says USB device not recognized iv been looking at all youtube tutorials all forums about this situation and there is no solution what do i do? :/

What PC OS are you using, might simply needs to download the Samsung drivers.

Guys.. your not gonna believe this but, my phone today has 'storage space running out , some system functions may not work'. i have downloaded sandisk and i can go into it still, iv went into it and deleted everything internal memory except the aps it says 'other files' on the sandisk but i cant go into it for some reason, doesnt let me click but here are photos of what its saying what can i do?

I had a problem where I had some corrupt file/folder names in my MP3s which caused Android's Media Storage service (I think) to go crazy and start filling up internal storage.

If all your MP3s are on your SD card, try turning off your phone, taking it out and turning the phone on again without it inserted. If your problem is the same as mine was, your internal storage should start to free up again. You'll then have to look for corrupt file/folder names on the SD card.

Nelviticus i tried switching phone off and on, didn't work.. :/ NeoGrandizer iv just downloaded clean master right now, hope it works *crosses fingers*

argh, i just tried deleting one of my aps so i could download this but its not even letting me download it due to the fact insufficient storage so it stops downloading :(

Okay, let's try this.

Completely power down your device. Remove the microSD card from it.

Now follow the instructions I posted here to get into the Android Recovery Console. But do not do a factory reset. Instead, clear the cache partition and then reboot.

See if this helps.

I just did what you said Neo and sadley the 'Storage space running out' hasn't removed ah.. so much trouble with this phone is there anything else i can do?! i defiantly do not want to hard reset again

This is puzzling. I honestly don't know what is happening in your circumstance. It is a headache and sad to see this happen and spoil your experience with the phone.

Let's think of other things to try. How's your battery life? If anything, good battery life usually has the screen display on the top of the list as the number 1 consumer. If it is not, we need to narrow the apps causing it. Maybe that might be what's causing the weird memory issue.

Home screens and widgets? Maybe something there polling data?

Last thing I can think of is that there is an issue with the OS or whatever sensor is being used reporting false readings. Odd as the firmware should be updated when being repaired. Cache wipe didn't help. And Samsung didn't report what the issue was either.

i just called up the carphone warehouse people (the place where i brought my phone from) and they said that apprintley if i have facebook or my emals or stuff like that it apparently stores everything and makes storage full? is that true o.o and another thing that they said is that it might be a problem with the memory card and it might not get stored or put into my memory card.. and then they said bring it into the shop -_- aint nobody gaaat timee for that! um my battery is alright i guess, it lasts me a day and a tiny bit home screen and widgets? what you mean?
