note 7 possible recall? (repost sorry didn't see the earlier one)

Lay the phone in a Pyrex baking dish when you leave it to charge, if you're really concerned about leaving it unattended.
I fast charge my Note7 in a led lined iridium box coated in a carbon fibre Kevlar weave. Mother makes me bury it at a depth of at least 22, I then cover it in nuclear grade concrete in the garden and use a circuit breaker just to be sure. baby monitors won't work at that depth so we use a dash cam to keep an eye on it.

Rumor is that Samsung is launching a new App. (Icon below)

It's a one time use and the paid version includes Marshmallows with a Hershey's chocolate bar to make S'mores over your Note 7.

Ok, here's the deal, story one from the Corporate Verizon Store, story 2 from customer service over the phone:
1. If you want another Note 7, keep it, watch it carefully or just charge it wirelessly, then when the new Note 7's come out, come in and exchange it. SUBSTORY: I traded in my iPhone 6plus on the Note 7 and got $320 in credit. If today I turned it back in, I would get a full refund for the balance I owe on the Note 7, BUT WILL NOT GET THE 320 back for the trade in since "that phone is gone and that deal is done." Sheesh.
2. Rep named "Page" said that we have until September 30 to turn in our phones. We should wait until then to see if the new Note 7's are out. BUT: if they aren't, since Verizon said you can turn it in for a "comparable phone" (read S7 Edge), then after the 30th you are SOOL. They won't replace it after the 30th. She said it is a deadline and that we have 4 weeks to make up our mind, and after that Verizon says we are stuck with it and if anything happens to it we have to cover it under insurance if you have it, which means at least 199.99 in fees to Asurion.

I for one am waiting and will exchange my Note 7 for a new Note 7.

Any idea if you still go to the Verizon store locally even if you don't have insurance trough the carrier. I know it's not an insurance claim but then again is samsung ordering the carriers to replace the phone at their stores. I never got the offered insurance trough verizon when pre ordering because I've never needed it.

I would call my Verizon or even samsung on what to do but I'm sure they are flooded with calls at the moment.

I would dispute what Page the CSR said. If the new Note 7s aren't available from Samsung by the 30th, I cannot see Verizon forcing customers with the old, highly flammable Note 7s to keep them. First, it would be a PR nightmare... and no doubt the government would get involved. Verizon staff told me that it could be two or three months before they got sufficient stock in from Samsung to completely swap out every phone. I'm confident that Verizon will do whatever it takes to make this right.

It's too bad we can't do something to our notes to ensure that they can't be re-issued. My guess is that if we try to mark the phones so that others will be able to identify that they're refurbs, we may not be able to return them. If only there was a way that we could mark them so that no one else could see the mark, maybe a small scratch inside the earphone jack I'm tempted to do something to mine that is just enough to get through Verizon's inspection but that will be obvious to someone that can tell that the phone was part of the massive returns.

Isn't Samsung going to have a very large supply of refurbished phones to sell? Is there any circumstance under which they could sell the refurbs as new?

Yeah, Verizon told me the same about the deadline and the S7 edge. I don't consider it a comparable phone though. If it comes down to that I will just take the refund and go back to my old phone and wait for the note 8. I won't be happy but, dang it, I want a note, not an S anything.

Well, I called Sam's Club (my retailer) and was told that they would swap out my Note 7 with a replacement Note 7, no matter how long it takes for the new stock to come in. She took my name & number and said she'd call when the replacements came in, but to please check in from time to time and see if some arrived. I've set up a calendar reminder to call every Monday starting next week.

I also just got an e-mail from Oculus, advising me NOT to use the Gear VR until I have replaced the phone. I guess this has to do with overheating conditions not related to charging. FYI.

The only phone that i will replace my Note 7 with is another Note 7 period!

My only concern is that they fix the issue by removing the quick charge or trying to dial it back some. That's probably one of the biggest sellers of the phone. I am going to wait a few weeks to see what changes with the new note and then I may not swap knowing that there are a lot of 3-4 week old previously owned notes out there that are being re-distributed as "new"

I wonder how many people would trade their note in for another note if they knew that Samsung was taking the returns and just swapping out the batteries.

The issue had nothing to do with the Quick charge. It was bad batteries. Samsung had to companies making batteries for the Note 7. One of the companies batteries had dead cells in it that caused it to overheat and explode.

I got that email as well, but I just can't stay out of VR, I just won't charge it from VR during use and take my chances.

I don't get it! A few photos and statements have come to light with phones under pillows - WTF! Is this some kind of new trend or maybe a cellphone addict's separation anxiety where intervention is needed? I know - of course, it's iPhone users looking to switch by leaving their phone beneath their pillow and the Samsung Phone Fairy is leaving the Note 7 in it's place with the charger on so it's ready to use when they excitedly awaken!!

Is there a way to tell what battery you have without taking the phone apart?

Considering that the suspect battery company, Samsung SDI, manufactured 70% of all Note 7 batteries (with the exception of China, which had their own battery supplier), it's a good chance you & I have a not-so-good battery.

So I charged it on the fast charger last night. Took it off this morning and it was very warm. Used it through out the day to check FB, send texts etc. Battery was at 70% and all of a sudden, it shut off. It would not turn on, so I plugged it in and it says the battery was at 0%. The battery use meter shows a slow drop from when I took it off the charger to about 10 minutes ago, when it completely dropped straight down to 0. I'm recharging it now (fast charge) and checking the temperature. 20 minutes in and I'm back to 70%....

Not yet... Did it twice though, so I returned it as defective and got a the 7 edge... Another 3 hours of my life I'll never get back..
