Note 7 Recall - Anyone been contacted by Samsung or their carrier yet?

After being on the online chat, as well as a call with Verizon, they told me there was no way they could send me the new phone to arrive on the 21st, just like when pre-orders arrive ON release day because there was no pre-order option for the new Note 7s. Understandable.
Since I didnt want to go 1 extra day worrying this thing would blow up when I charge it at night, I decided to go with the in store option, though I figured the store might be out of them by the time I got there.
I arrived at 6:30 pm, and they had run out prior to that, but also got a new shipment in just before I arrived. Swapped it out right way. With my company discount and the 25 dollar discount, I got a Zagg screen protector for free. No issues at all.
Used SmartSwitch to transfer the big stuff.
Still took hours at home to re-adjust all of the settings just the way I wanted them. In fact, Im still finding little things here and there that arent quite right yet.

Slight drawbacks-
Since I had my phone longer than 14 days, it was processed as a return (no restocking fee though) but that meant I had to pay tax on the "purchase" of my new phone up front again. And the tax from the previous phone will go back on the credit card in a few days.

Also, since they supposedly had to treat this as a new phone purchase, my account will be credited for the ~$36 dollar edge payment for my device from last month. And I dont really get credit for having paid on the phone for that month. I start over paying on the new phone this month. Which is a 1 month setback for being able to possibly trade in my Note 7 for an S8 if I choose to do so.

Just some very minor inconveniences. However, overall, it was a painless process at my local verizon.

Same thing happened to me to with the taxes but the day i seen verizon have them back on sale on the website i was on the phone with them and they shipped meba replacement so i could set everything up at home and make sure the new one was right before i did the reset on the old one.Just dropped it off today at the store and no restocking fee,got a screen protector like you did but mine was 35 so i had to pay ten bucks still but no biggie

I bought mine online at Verizon. It was a normal device upgrade.
Then the recall, then I took it back to my local Verizon store to turn it in.
This just a week or so ago.
The lady at the store marked it up as a return instead of an exchange and basically blew up my upgrade status and I had to go thru the entire process, online, of buying a new one.

BUT, because I save everything I had all of the conversations (online chat help, prices, quoted monthly billing amounts, etc.) saved from my first purchase, and not only did they give me the exact same deal on the new Note 7, but they credited me about $20 in tax difference, making my taxes the same as the first purchase ($68), and because the lady messed up the dates on my original upgrade, the very helpful support guy online at Verizon changed my plan and saved me a heap of money.
I was extremely happy with the outcome.
My original bill was about $160 a month...2 lines and a grandfathered plan.
With the credits and the plan change my bill will be $141 a month for the length of the phone contract, 2 years, and then $36 bucks will drop off of my payments, making my monthly payments just over 100 dollars.
Oh, and that's not including the $25 credit that Samsung, who I have also been in contact with, is giving me for "inconvenience".

I mean, I actually bought the new Note 7, twice, and ended up saving money on the deal.

Apparently there have been so many screw ups in this recall thing, phone returns and exchanges, that the carriers, or at least Verizon, are doing everything they can do to make it up to us. Especially if you talk to them personally and if you are polite and explain your ordeal.

From the time I turned in my phone until I got the new one was about a week and a half.
Not bad.

I for one am VERY happy the phone recall happened. :)

My replacement has been dispatched, I received an email from Samsung UK about an hour ago. Great news. And credit to Samsung for getting them out early (mines not booked til 3/10)

Now its left me with a headache. I need to box this note 7 up for exchange on a day that I don't know when it'll actually be.. If I'm at work I'm gonna have to rely on someone else. The micro sim won't fit the only spare phone i have and I can't go to work without a phone.. This is a bigger headache than the battery has been personally.

Can you use a SIM adapter so your SIM fits your spare phone?

Hunted high and low can't find it.. But on a whim I did try the small sim in my old phone and the sim slot appears to hold it (relatively) in place. I was able to text and get a signal so while not practical long term, at least for a day or two waiting for the delivery to rock up it'll do.. Now I'm just waiting for emails from a courier.. I doubt anythin will turn up Sunday that gives me time to back up everything.
