Note 7 specs - whoa! (if it becomes a reality..)

If they're planning for a july release, they must be close to having an idea as to what the phone is going to be. I wish they'd release teaser trailers for the phone like movies do... Something short and sweet.. like here, have a small taste of what's to come..

Is this phone supposed to have a glass back? God, I hope not. I always have a slim TPU case on anyway, but do not want glass front and back.

Count on it,as sure as the sun rising tomorrow,as the Note 5 has a glass back & every flagship from Samsung since Q1/Q2 2015.
I doubt we'll see any change there, less ruggedized versions a la Galaxy S4/S5/S6 Active.......

I saw a render somewhere that made the Note 6 look flat like a wafer. I mean really skinny. I'm not sure if I like that.

And of course now I can't find the pics... If I find them before the official release I'll post them in this thread. Seriously though it looked like you could easily break it in two.

I hope they don't have a glass back, but I bet you are correct. I really don't see the advantage at all with a glass back. Just another thing to break, another layer of material, more weight - silly really. All for what, a premium look/feel? Yes, a case will cover it, but I don't want to have another glass face to possibly break. Oh well. If all the other specs (sd card slot, bigger battery, IP8, bigger internal memory options) pan out I will live with the glass back and non-removable battery. I would like dual speakers, but have lived with one speaker for so long that is another option that is not a deal breaker.

Well, here's some more:

I'm not sure about the USB-C port. The article is correct: Samsung would have to release yet ANOTHER GearVR with a USB-C connection. Or not have the Note 6 VR compatible at all... which isn't likely, since Sammy is throwing everything but the kitchen sink into promoting VR. Maybe there's a stand-alone GearVR coming that doesn't involve sticking your phone into it? Hmmmm....

Very good point, Chief. Then again, it's possible that they could create some sort of adapter as well.

I'm actually hoping it's not USB-C. Despite all the "benefits" that are being reported with companies moving to Type C, I'm so heavily invested in microUSB w/ so many of my devices, that a move to Type C would add to additional accessory expenses, which I'd prefer not having to do for at least another year or so.

Based on all the rumored specs I've seen for the Note 6, the only things I'm waiting to see are

1) Screen to body ratio, as compared to the past Note series phones. It would have to be just as good as the Note 5 (or better) for me to be 100% sold.
2) Confirmation of a microSD slot

If those 2 factors add up, I'll likely pick up one from T-Mobile and another International unlocked (that's assuming that US offerings are limited to 32/64gb choices). I definitely want that 256gb version w/ a microSD slot.

My money is on the 256GB version being available ONLY in South Korea. Once the chip has proven itself, it might be widely available on the Note 7... but don't hold your breath on that version being sold here.

The rumored specs have sure gotten my attention. If they come to fruition I might have to 'buy one get one free' the Note 6! One for me and one to replace The Wife's Note 2

I'm seriously considering going retro & getting the Note4 again:

One local store still has new ones in stock (T-Mobile),I'm seriously considering Jumping my G5 to it.
I'm kinda stuck with my Note5,or,sell/trade & be upside-down on it,otherwise,I'd already pulled the trigger.
The Note4 is plenty fast, good battery life & has good development support.
That was my biggest phone-hopping mistake by far.The Note 5 is nice, but,I'm not crazy about the all-glass build.
The Note6 will no doubt be more of the same & while I can appreciate the spec boost,I'd gladly take the Note 4 w/its build design/removable battery & I-R Blaster.

JACKPOT! :D

Turns out I was only $75 upside-down on the Note5,so,I took it in to the local T-Mobile store & hoped for the best, that I could trade-in the Note5 for the New-In-Box Note4 & finance via EIP w/o having to add a line.
I was fully prepared,grudgingly,to start a 2nd line,or,worse,Jump my LG G5 for it.
Fortunately,I was able to jettison the Note5 & get into the Note4 w/o adding a line & finance w/EIP. :thumbsupdroid:
Telesales had been reluctant/refused to do this, although I'd financed multiple handsets on one line in the past,up to 5 at once, before I got it knocked down to 2-3 on one line.

Long story short,I couldn't be more pleased to be back in the Note4. :)
Still way too soon to say if I'll get the Note6,but,it's a safe bet I'm sure as the sun will shine tomorrow that I WON'T be trading-in the Note4 to get it.
If the US version of the Note6 is locked-down as the Galaxy s7/Edge,I'm definitely taking a pass, unless the int'l version is development friendly.

I'm still just as filled w/anticipation on what the Note6 will have to offer,it'll be a beast,no doubt,& most certainly a worthy upgrade from the Note5.

Root & ROM is becoming less of an issue for me, but you're definitely entitled to your opinion and choice. I love Android Pay, which won't work on rooted devices. Samsung Pay? Same thing, no doubt. I've had the Moto X Pure for about 7 months now, stock and unrooted. Couldn't be happier.*

*-Well, yes I could. I could be a tester for the Note 6 right now :D :p

I agree as for the root/ROM, it's less of a necessity as it once was,at least for Samsung devices. Package Disabler Pro & a good Ad blocker take care of most my once root-only needs.
I'm holding off on root for the moment, no need to trip Knox just yet, but, it'll happen eventually......
