I actually don't mind, considering Google hasn't even announced the formal name of Android N yet. From what I remember, the Note 2 was released with ICS w/ an almost immediate upgrade to Jelly Bean, even though Jelly Bean had already been announced and released for a few months prior. We're still 2 months until the formal release date, so things could change very easily between now and then.
I agree. I would much prefer my Note 7 daily driver have a proven, established OS over a brand new OS that hasn't been tested in the real world. Too many things could go wrong, and consumers would immediately blame the phone. It could spell the end of the Note line and Samsung would take a serious hit on revenue. They need to play this safe.

I also agree that the N7 should have a tried and true OS. For all the reasons others listed. They can send out a suitable update when it is actually ready.
BTW, I have seen no talk about rooting - I suppose it is a little early on in the process for it seeing as we don't even know what OS we will have, or what the phone will actually entail for hardware, but I for one still hope for a rootable phone. I haven't kept up with rooting marshmallow - is that easy to do, or is it phone dependent (like the non-dev N4 was locked down tighter than fort knox for a long time)?

Count on US Carrier models to be locked down,all of 'em,as w/the S7/Edge.
The international versions,I'm guessing,will be development-friendly,as are the int'l flavors of the S7/Edge.
If root/ROM are a high priority,I'd sit back & wait until root/development is achieved.

Well, that's why I've happily been using Nova Launcher Pro, ever since the Note 2! Alleviates any issues with whatever UI a manufacturer decides to put on their phone.
If I wanted my phone to look and act more like an iPhone, I'd darn well buy an iPhone! This is ridiculous - getting rid of the app drawer and having tons of homesceens for all the obscure apps I rarely use is STUPID. I certainly hope that Nova and Apex will run on the Note 7, because I want an app drawer.

Yeah, sadly I figure it will be locked down. The main thing I really need root for these days is Titanium backup. Not only can I migrate apps and data over exactly how I want to, but I like to back up older versions of some apps as updating at times borks the apps completely. Kind of like how Pandora updated and has been broken for a couple months now, so I use the older version I had backed up on Titanium. There are other reasons I like/use root, but backing up is the main reason. I wonder if they have a Dev version in the works?

This is bad news. I have been using Nova prime for years myself. Nova prime had better darn well work with the N7 - I am not going down a crapple look-alike style of UI. Jeezuz. Taking away the app drawer? We don't need everything dumbed down Samsung.

These leaks look pretty official. You know what's funny, Chief, I remember waiting for the Note 2 release and thinking early October release was a perfect time because it'd be an early birthday present to myself!...lol. Your turn now!
You think the 256gb internal will end up being true? I'm leaning towards that only being available to Korea and US version will still be limited to 32 or 64...but I hope that my inclinations are wrong. Of course, as long as the microSD card slot is there, I'm good with 32gb internal (although preference would be at least 64).
I agree: I believe that the 256GB internal memory will be in South Korea only. I'll be happy with 64GB internal with my trusty 200GB microSD card. Anyway, a little over 6 weeks to go!

I am not expecting a 128 or 256 gb version in the US with Verizon. But it better damn well be at least 64 gb. The 32 gb on my N4 is constantly full, and I have moved all the apps I could over to the SD card. Seems that every time I update an app on the Play store it moves it back to internal memory. I have all pictures, videos and music on the SD card. I have a 128 gb card and it has around 5 gb left. I have to uninstall apps that I would probably leave on the phone because I don't have space for them. It isn't a huge deal, but it is a PITA to constantly be moving apps around to SD so I can have barely enough space on the internal. 64 gb internal would remedy this however.
