Note 7 specs - whoa! (if it becomes a reality..)

I read this with caution.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonk...eak-reveals-two-nasty-surprises/#323b6c482a5a

It is entirely possible that Samsung, in their cleverness, used a dumbed down model for the benchmarks so that they could surprise us on August 2nd. At least I HOPE that's the case. If the Note 7 is this dumbed down, I will be very disappointed.

Who knows what to believe.
It wouldn't surprise me if this is the real deal.
Why pack in more than one or two new features a year,it's the typical M.O.,keep ya coming back for more next year.......

If the Note7 is dumbed down to a Galaxy S7 with a stylus, I may be inclined to hold off a year until the Note8 comes out with a 4K UHD OLED screen. That should prove more than an incremental upgrade, especially where it concerns VR applications.

Yep. I have a perfectly good Moto X. If these are the real specs, I can wait for better. Fingers crossed someone is just having fun at our expense.

My Note 4 display has burn-in that is getting worse, it'll need to be replaced soon. My girlfriend just gave me $800 for my birthday specifically for the Note 7 that she knows I've been waiting for. So I will probably get it regardless, however I am now expecting basically the S7 with a stylus and slightly better camera and slightly bigger display. I bet the antutu benchmarks will end up being what the phone is - Snapdragon 820, 4gb RAM, 3600 mah battery. At least it still has the SD slot and supposed 64gb internal memory. It better damn well be IP8 waterproof though. Tired of downgraded disappointments.

EDIT - upon further thinking about it, the tested phone in that antutu benchmark had a lesser processor than even the S7 with less RAM. That would make zero sense for Samsung to do. I will be pissed if that is what they release.

Well, this is interesting:

What if the Note7 does, in fact, come with a multi-function slot? Would you use the new UFS card, or stick with microSD?

I'd likely stick with microSD, just for the ability to use an adapter to take the card out and back up the card. That said, I'm looking forward to when the new 256gb microSD's are released and actually drop in price. My next card upgrades will be when the extreme cards go on sale for less than 100, just like the 200gb SanDisk did a few months after release.

That said, UFS is definitely intriguing. I'd give it a try, if the price would end up significantly lower than microSD.

We're 3 weeks out from announcement day! While I'm doubting it'll happen, I'm hoping for a surprise of August 2nd also being release day.

Can I have your girlfriend???? :)

Looking forward to the phone, though I'm not sure it will be a day one buy or I'll wait. After having gone over to AT&T for a couple years, I'm looking to go back to Verizon.

Now, if this phone comes with nougat and/or it's unlocked (as in getting updates straight from Samsung) I'll buy it day 1. If not, then I'll need to think about it and perhaps wait for an unlocked version.

Other than that, the phone sounds like it's going to be really good. I can see the iris scanner opening up all kinds of possibilities in the future.

I have been wondering about this as well

I think if I have the Note 7 and it ends up coming with the UFS slot, I would probably highly consider getting the 256GB UFS MicroSD card rather than the standard or Extreme 256GB MicroSD cards. As Drex pointed out though, the price point is going to have to be comprable and discounted over time for me to consider it.

I'm sorry to be so crude, but HELL no. :) She's a damn keeper. She is the woman I should have met 20 years ago (yes, that ages me). Never thought I'd meet someone who fit me so well, was so unbelievably nice, caring, attentive, kind and to boot sexy, fit, beautiful and attractive. She's a keeper, and will soon be more than my GF. I mean, what kind of man would NOT keep a woman who pays enough attention to my excitement for an upcoming phone enough to actually give me the money for my birthday (she would have pre-ordered but obviously can't yet) for the phone?

Interesting on the Iris scanning. I probably won't use it, but if it works well you never know.

BTW, that is a good view of the device with the screen on - I like it. The edge display looks good. My only caveat with the edge display is that you can't really use a tempered glass screen protector and the edges will be the most vulnerable part of the phone. Although on my N4 it has a slight curve on the edges that meant a tempered glass protector didn't cover the whole screen anyway, so it's not that much different than my N4 for real world protection. I would assume someone will make a tempered glass protector that fits the flat part of the screen for the N7 and I will probably still use it as it is by far the best way to protect the display from breaks.

Good stuff, Teegunn. Does she have any sisters?...LOL.

I'm actually surprised that you're excited to get this one though. I know that some of your pre-requesites aren't adding up as available on the Note 7.

Ha - she does have one sister. You don't want her though. They couldn't be more polar opposites if they tried.

The way I look at the phone is that even though it is likely to have a lesser processor and RAM than we all hoped, as long as it has everything else (SD slot, smaller body to display ratio, bigger battery, better camera, at least 64 gb onboard storage and waterproofing) it will still be a very worthy upgrade to my N4. Plus, I can't disappoint my GF, although she said if the phone wasn't what I wanted when it actually released I could use the money for something else. I would say I am 99% sure I will get the phone shortly after release. Would LOVE to be able to root, but am resigned that I won't be able to. This time it won't be a deal killer for me though.

LOL, all good, was just gonna call dibs if the sister dishes out the cash like your girl!

Since you're not buying on release day, you might want to hold out since there's a good chance Samsung will do a similar thing as they did with the S7 / S7 Edge and sell an unlocked version of the Note 7 that'll work cross carrier. My ultimate wish would be that Samsung offers that up, right off the bat. Even though I don't plan on leaving T-Mobile anytime in the near future, I'd still love to be able to do that and not need to buy a new one, due to the phone not having all the necessary radios on the new provider.

Hey, I wouldn't mind about the sister, but she is not one you'd want to date lol.

I also would like to see an unlocked version. My N4 is a Dev edition, I waited to buy a Dev edition on the N4, not sure if I can wait that long on the N7. I will have to see what the regular, unlocked version is like first I suppose. I am with Verizon, but it is always nice to have the option to go to other carriers. My main concern is being able to have Root though - especially for Titanium backup, which I have always used to migrate apps and data.

LOL

I see. Part of me remembers seeing the S7 / S7 Edge finally having a solution for rooting the phone, but I could be wrong. Seems like every year, there's always a question mark on rootability, until the phone is actually released.

You could try this screen protector although it is a bit pricey... http://www.mobilefun.com/60110-olixar-samsung-galaxy-note-7-curved-glass-screen-protector-black.htm
