Root Notification Bar Clock and Font Color

Hey guys,
I recently applied the theme "Alternate Dark" to my LG Ally which has the Stock ROM. The clock font and notification font color are still black and hard to read!! I was wondering if there was any way to change the color of these, or if I applied a different notification bar color from droidpirate.com to fix it. Any suggestions?? I don't want to brick my phone so if people have done this before it would be much appreciated!!!

Applying an older theme like Alternate Dark over the new stock 2.2.2 rom will give you troubles like this. I am actually suprised it worked without giving you a whole mess of force closes.

If the text in question is the text that appears in the notification bar and pulldown shade, then you CAN fix it without reflashing.

You can run a tool like ColorChangev3 on your Services.jar file 9 I have a copy here ) or if you want you can upload your services.jar file, and I can run the tool against it to make the colors whatever you want.

I just unrooted my device but I can root it back up again lol what do I need to do to change the color?? I don't want to brick my device. What is the service.jar file?? I'll let you do it so the color gets changed accordingly

I don't know where to find the software version lol that's the thing. Is it of my phone you're looking for?

i know this has nothing to do with your dilema, but knowing what all that means will come in handy

How can I fix this issue though? Do you know how to do that font color change or no?? Or do you know what themes will work on stock rom on the LG Ally 2.2.2???

Your SW Version is VS740ZVE

I will download the stock nandroid when I get off work and patch it for you. Unless you or someone else wants to save me some time and upload the stock services.jar (and make sure its not odexed)

Is white ok?

Yeah all I want is a white clock and white notification text color in the bar. Everything else on this theme is awesome!! That's the only thing I need changed if you can make it for stock rom because that's all i know how to run. I'll re-root my phone using gingerbreak 1.2, then install metamorph and busybox again. All I want is the clock and notification color fixed for froyo 2.2.2 on my ally. Thank you so much!! I don't know how to upload the other thing you're asking for so yeah lol I would if I knew how to. Also, when I root my phone, I'm assuming I'm running the Stock ROM because I didn't put any other ROM in it like Velocity??

Yeah, your running stock, and therein lies your problem.

I just extracted a stock ZVE Nandroid to get the services.jar to modify and it turns out like I had been worried - it is odexed. Unfortunately an odexed file cannot be modified easily. I would have to write you a script to deodex just the services.jar file so we can replace it with a modified version.

Its a lot of work and unfortunately I don't have much time as it is. My recommendation would be to flash a custom rom that has theming options. *winks and points to the velocity thread*

If for some reason you need stock, or the data within I can probably help you but it might be awhile until I can find the time

I don't really mind not seeing the time but I just really want to be safe and not brick my phone. How do I put velocity on my phone and what do i use? which option? veloctiy 1.0 or whatever?

I would use velocity 1.1, youll also see GREAT improvement to the spped and battery life of your phone.

if you have fastboot, you would have to try REALLY hard to brick your phone. If not i would suggest downgrading or you can just hope it all goes well, it usually does.

Ill post links in a few. . .

Just a quote from another thread, but its all there, except the velocity link. . . One more minute

The Fastboot Debate

Preferred Root Method (Because it downgrades and gives you fastboot access) Already linked in the 2nd post

Alternate Downgrade Method (Because LGMU used in the guide acts crazy sometimes)

I downloaded Velocity 1.1 zip from another thread. The only thing I'm afraid of is bricking my phone. How do I tell if I have a fastboot? I already have gingerbreak on my phone. Is that a fastboot???

Whoa cuz, whoa!!! In a rooted terminal enter
Code:
reboot bootloader
sooo root the phone w/ gingerbreal, download terminal emulator and enter
Code:
$su
Code:
#reboot bootloader
dont enter the $ and #, $=no root, #=root. If it reboots into a blue screen then you have fastboot, if it just reboots then you must downgrade to get it via the 2.2 root guide or LGNPST. Both are linked above, and check out the 1st link. "To root with SOC or not to. . . ." it kind of talk about how fastboot can benefit you.

Can someone tell me how to go to the next line while writing in "code"??

@Savoxis - if you ever do find the time to do that for me and fix it because I don't want to risk rooting my phone =/ it doesn't have to be immediate, if you can ever do that for me and fix the clock and font color on stock ROM for me on Alternate Dark (which is running fine on 2.2.2 besides the clock and font color) I would just like for those to be changed. If yo could ever do that it would be greatly appreciated :D

@KingofGreen - I did what you said and it just rebooted my phone back to the main screen. what do i do now??

Thats only IF you want fastboot, OR you could just not root it and not mess with anything else if you are so worried about bricking and not comfortable with ANYTHING required to root/ROM/or fix possible issues. I gave you all the info you needed, if its too scary, then dont mess with it cuz youll shit your pants WHEN you run into issues.
