Notification light

I haven't looked lately so thought I'd ask, any news on a fix for no notification lights on the M8? I'm way too far into it to do a factory reset, so has HTC maybe come up with a fix? I'm on AT&T.

The only time that I get a notification light is the one that is on when charging. When I first got the phone on 3/31 I got notification lights, after transferring all of my stuff over from my GS4 they quit working. Under settings and notifications lights all things are checked. No way that I'm doing a factory reset and reloading everything!!

ah i see - right - when you say copy stuff over - do you mean apps too? could one of those be impacting led working?

Boot into safe mode:

Quoted from T-Mobile's support page:

Turn on and use safe mode:

Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can remove any apps that are causing problems.

To turn on safe mode and use it to fix app problems, follow these steps:
Press and hold the Power key.
On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
When the 'Reboot to safe mode' message appears, tap RESTART.
When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.

Reset: HTC One (M8) | T-Mobile Support

To escape safe mode, simply re-boot the phone.

Enable one app at a time until the problem presents itself........

Sounds like a hardware issue.I'd take the phone to AT&T & swap it out.

If you ask for another phone,I bet they'll do everything short of an exchange 1st,including a Factory Reset.

But,in the meantime,I wouldn't resort to that,as safe mode,in a sense,simulates a FDR.

Thanks for your advice! Do you think that if I took it to the store and they couldn't fix it they would end up giving me a new one, or a refurb?

The phone has not been out that long. Most likely you will get a new device. It will be a few more months before we start seeing refurbs on a regular basis.

I hadn't paid too much attention to LED notifications before this,so,forgive me for asking the following:

When you're testing the various notifications,is your screen off (phone on,screen-off)?

Other than the charging LED notification,on my T-MOBILE variant, the LED doesn't light up if the screen is already on.
I suppose this makes some sense, but, just checking all the possibilities.

Sounds good, and will do. I've seen other threads over the last few weeks, some of them lately have said that HTC is aware of it and is working on it. The only cure I've read about is the factory reset, which I really don't want to do, and you mentioned that the safe mode is the same thing. Other than this one issue, I LOVE the phone!

Ok, I went to my local AT&T store this morning, and they couldn't get it to work either. They said that since I've had it over 14 days they couldn't swap it out at the store, so sent me to the nearby AT&T Warranty center. The tech there worked on it for awhile and determined that the notification light is burned out, he says he's never seen that before. So all of the things that we were trying couldn't possibly make a burned out bulb work... Anyway, he didn't have one in stock he said and ordered me a new one to be delivered to my home. I hope this will have a happy ending, soon, I'll let you know!

I have noticed this issue too. Just started using my new M8 today, and I've seen the green notification LED once but have been texting all day and have notcied several times that I've had new texts but no flashing green LED.

Here's what I wish I'd have done 3 weeks ago, take it to the store and let them either fix it or give you a new one. After messing with mine for 3 weeks I finally did that, to find out that the bulb was burned out, and since I had it over 14 days they couldn't exchange it at the store, warranty had to send me one... :)
