Help Notification Sound Settings/help

I have found that the method of installation affects the success of installation of new notification sounds. Using either direct connect via USB, or Wi-Fi File Explorer Pro, I can install MP3s into my SD/media/audio/notifications folder from my computer and get them to appear properly. DL'ing them directly from a site (most recently Oringz.com), onto phone, nor using Air Droid (which I like better the WiFI Explorer) doesn't seem to work properly. Hope it helps!

Excellent! This works, thanks.

Does anybody know what the default notification tone is for the HTC one? I had an app change it and want the default back.
It's att, thanks for any help.

I have the AT&T 32gb carrier version.

The default notification tone can vary, dependent upon which variant of the ONE you have.
Do you have an unlocked variant or, a Carrier specific model?

EDIT:

Sorry,I missed the fact that you're on AT&T,& I'm assuming that you have their variant of the ONE.
In absence of a definitive answer, here's AT&T's support page for the ONE,w/links to Chat Line/User Forums,etc..

Hi, I'm also having an issue with my HTC One with the notification when I'm listening to the radio/music with the headphones in with not receiving the notification sound coming through the headphones...both with the headphones that came with the phone and my own set?
I came from a HTC One S where the notification sound came through the headphones. Could anyone shed any light on this?

On previous HTC phones they've always had the option to change the different "sound sets", so I could had specific ringtones for work and others for personal. Can't seem to find this setting on the HTC One, anyone know how to do it?

Is this an International version of one from the U.S.? I haven't personally run into this on my HTC One on Sprint here in the U.S. I don't use wired headphones, just my LG Bluetooth ones, but I get the notification sounds while playing music or even being on a call.

What app are you playing music with? Maybe it is specific to the app. I know there are a few that seem to take over my phone. For example, some apps make it so that I can't skip tracks from my headphones. It seems to monopolize the phone so it can't receive extra commands. Usually they are games.

For music, I use PowerAmp. I never use Google Music/stock music player. I also have never actually tried using the FM Radio. I've used TuneIn Radio a few times, but don't recall whether I got notifications while I was using it or not. I will give it a try later today.

I'm talking about the annoying double beep (almost like call waiting) the phone makes when i receive a text while im talking to someone. I still want notification sounds when im not on a call so I dont want to silence them enitrely. I dont remember this happening on my One X, is this a new thing?

I bought it SIM free from a friend of a friend so I can only presume it's an European model  is there a way to find out if it's an international model?
I'm just using the stock fm radio and stock music player like I did on my old HTC One S.

I am on day 3 with the One and so far I am fairly pleased with my choice over a GS4. One feature that my wife's GS4 has that I would LOVE is the ability to change the vibration pattern for certain contacts/notifications. Is there any way (short of root) that I can add that kind of functionality to the One or is that a TouchWiz only feature?
Thanks all!

There's an app I've noticed in the Play store that does that. Since I was never interested in doing anything of the sort I didn't bookmark it, but there is one in there.

I found the app Vybe ( I hope I never have to explain THAT name to any friends!) but you have to create your own vibration patterns, it doesn't have any pre-installed to choose from...
I will play around with that for a while and let everyone know how it works longterm

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has seen a solution to have EVERYTHING silent on the HTC One except the phone ringer.

Reason being is I like to sleep but with my phone ringer still on at night just in case of emergency (No home line). With the HTC One it's either ALL notifications or none....or vibrate (Which still wakes me up if someone texts or sends a message while I'm sleeping)

Has anyone found a decent option/app for this? Thanks.

Does this cover emails, whatsapp messages, tweets, etc....or do I have to go into all of those and silence them as well?

As far as emails are concerned they won't update if you have wifi and mobile data switched off which is what I normally do before switching off at night.

I don't use Whatsapp or Twitter, but don't they also use wifi/mobile data?.

:)

For those of you looking to set different notifications sounds for individual apps, I came across an app called MegaSound the other day that does just that.

That's probably the best idea I've heard yet. I suppose I could turn off wifi and data and just have to deal with text messages (Of which I get few these days) and have my ringer set on normal.

Alright, I'm going to try my best to explain the situation without sounding like a complete lunatic.

Recently, on my HTC One, I was moving some music around via my laptop and I think I may have accidentally moved some Whatsapp notification sound files out of their default locations (I have no idea what those are). Anyway, I'm not sure if this was the starting point of my problem, but I'm guessing it is.

Now for the weird part. Since then, the phone doesn't play Whatsapp message notifications. Well, not all the time anyway. Sometimes, when I get a message while listening to music on Bluetooth speakers, it plays. Same thing happens when I receive a message with my headphones on. Sometimes, not all the time.

The way I see it, if moving/renaming the files started the problem to begin with, it shouldn't play at all, regardless of the output channel of the sound.

Also, I tried reinstalling Whatsapp and restarting my phone, but to no avail.

And lastly, my music (and pretty much everything else) plays just fine on my external speakers.

Good luck with this one. :/

Oh, I'm on Android Version 4.4.2 with HTC Sense Version 6.

would help if you post the carrier.

are you rooted?

did you have custom sounds playing for whatsapp notifications or are you using the apps default tones?

in whatsapps settings page, there is a couple places to select the tones for certain notifications. you should simply go in there and make the selection to the proper sounds you want.

also check your phone sound profiles and see how you have the tones setup (ringtone vol, notification vol, etc.)

I have an HTC One (m7).

How do I set my phone to either vibe THEN ring or vibe AND ring ?

All the instructions I see to do this, point to menus my phone does not have!

Can anybody help, please ?

Android version: 4.3
HTC Sense version: 5.0
HTC SDK API level: 5.45
Kernel version: 3.4.10-gcfc57d3
Baseband version: 4T.20.3218_13_10.12.1718.01L
Build number: 3.17.502.3

Thank you,
Simon

Hi AccuzzamEnomis, welcome to the site!

I moved your thread to the HTC One M7 forum so other people with your phone will see it :)

Welcome to the forum. :)

Vibrate and ring is standard. I don't know whether that menu has changed since 4.3, but on mine you could go to Settings > Sound and there's a tick box for "Vibrate". If your profile is set to Normal then ticking/unticking that enables/disables vibration.

I don't know how to to vibrate then ring, though if you loaded a custom ringtone with a few seconds of silence at the start that would produce the effect.

Did you buy the phone through a network, and if so which one? Sometimes carriers mess with phone software (and I can't think of a single case where they've improved things), so missing menus might be due to them. Certainly I've had vibrate and ring as standard since 4.2.1 (which was the OS version my phone came with originally).
