Well its pretty simply explained. The notifications are finally louder. here are the steps

install a root browser (such as root explorer)
navigate to system/media/notifications
delete all the notification sounds besides perfect sms (or any other you want to keep)
(make sure the little box in the top it set to R/O)
from there, boot into your recovery
navigate to install zip from sd,
and simply install the ics sound zip
^_^ easy right?

here is the download

You are the man genovdot.

No doubt. I thought you had moved on and wouldnt be providing a fix, but low and behold....you do what a true master dev does and supports his creations!

Bravo sir. This is why I will continue to look for YOUR ROMs before any others.

I endorse this statement lol

genovdot, I have a question.

I noticed in /system/media I have notifications, but I also have an audio folder that has notifications as well. This has a bunch of sounds as well.

Is this normal? I am just curious why there are 2 notification folders.

(one) in /system/media/notifications
(another) in /system/media/audio/notifications

Before i deleted for this fix both had notif files in them. Now the only one that has them all is /system/media/audio/notifications, while /system/media/notifications only has perfect sms like we left.

I don't expect it to be a problem but I tend to explore as much as possible to try and get a handle/grasp on the android file system. Nerdy as is it, I have a blast doing this stuff and exploring.

Anyhow, is this how it should be? I am just wondering which one the system is supposed to pull notification audio from by default.

Thanks!

The only one in that folder is perfect sms whereas the audio folder infid3vil speaks of have more, so I don't understand. I installed for zip I don't hear any sound difference

So nothing?

I never really found a perfect solution to this.

What I did to help though was to download Volume + and crank up the handset volume to max. It helped a bit, but it raises the volume of EVERYTHING, not just notifications.

But what helped the most was to download and use Zedge to manage your notifications. What you can do is copy all of your stock notifications from /system/media/audio/notifcations to the Zedge notification folder on your SD card. Then just use Zedge to manage notifications instead of Android when it prompts you.

For some reason everything coming through on Zedge sounds much louder for me.

Wanna make notifications louder on monster 1/3/4 right?
Equalizer at volume 10.0 (Be sure to make all the equalizer parts 10.0 too)(Also makes your headphones etc higher.
I'd keep it at 10.0 if i were you..
You're welcome.

Well that sucks.

It worked better for me, not deafening but much better than having Android handle it.

But now I am back on Monster 3 and have no sound issues at all.

Not sure why, but the problem is specific to Monster 4, which sucks since it is the best version there is.

I am not sure if geno ever found out what the issue was.

How do you enable the speaker? When I get an incoming call, there is no sound. I have no sound for calls or media. Is there a hidden menu code to enable speaker. Even while on a call, I hit the speaker button and still get nothing. The "Volume Control" app says the the speaker is disabled due to an unrecognized route. How can I enable speaker?

That's a first. Ill look into it

This is another of my posts on another page:

--How do I enable the speaker so that I can hear media and incoming calls? After downloading "Volume Control" it says..."An unrecognized audio route is currently enabled. Please enable either the speaker or a head-set and restart the application." When I plug in head phones or external speakers, I can hear all music and media but when I unplug them, I get nothing. Please Help. I am running Monster4.--

Another thing now that I cant do is access the "Hidden Menu" on M4. Any ideas?

Ok, so i figured out how to enable my hidden menu. That is one problem done. Now is there any new info on "enabling speaker"? Possibly through the hidden menu???
