Help Notifications

Since moving to the Droid from the iPhone, one of my few disappointments has been notifications. If I miss a call, email, sms, have a voicemail, etc, I either get no notification or only sometimes get a notification. I could find no setting anywhere on the stock droid to change that in any way. I could be ******ed. Wouldn't be the first time.

I found an app called Go Notifications or something like that so I got the go launcher and installed the notifications and now I sometimes get semi-accurate notifications of a limited sort only in the form of numbers over the icons of the corresponding apps.

My iPhone would give me those notification numbers, some notifications in my notification bar and most importantly, which I loved, my sms messages popping up and even being the first thing I see when I go to my lock screen.

I'm sure I'm having a series of "no duh" moments. Thanks in advance for steering me in the right direction.

The LG Esteem is not the Motorola Droid. If you're having problems with notifications go in to a Metro store since it is likely your phone was not provisioned correctly.

I've never seen a phone that didn't give notifications unless something was actually wrong with the phone. I think the Esteem even has reminders if not checked.

Yway it isn't android. its the phone itself lol. Its probably refurbished or something. I don't like refurbished phones!!

I'm using an application named 'Droid Notify Pro' (paid version) which is very similar to that found in iPhone. There is a free version too named 'Droid Notify Lite' and everytime I received a SMS, MMS or a Call the application popups and show me those notifications right away even if the phone is in 'sleep mode', and if I don't attend the notifications it sounds a notification tone every x minutes which is configurable, it also comes with different skins (I'm using by the way the iPhone skin) and the developer of this application is very responsive and helpful in my experience. The application has a lot of configuration settings. It can be found in the Application Market in the following link:

It's not a device issue. It's been an issue on 3 different devices and none of them were refurbished "lol". Rooted or unrooted if the Droid offers any sort of pop up notifications by default then I have been struck by lightning three times on three different devices. All new out of the box from the carrier and not a reseller.

The same goes for numbers on icons. Intermittently notifies me and semi accurate.

Thanks Carlos for suggesting Droid Notify Pro. Outstanding app. Maybe my friends won't think I'm a snob now that I'll know if they contact me.....
