Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

I believe you can only tether using 1X using the method above... thats what happened when I tried it. If thats the case then your debunk is debunked!! :D
WRONG. You get full 3G speed. I use it almost everyday at work. Please stop making things up. You cant just make things up and pretend they are real.

As I said before there is nothing useful you can do with your rooted phone that I cant do with my stock unit.

How old are you??? 17??? Dude, I wasn't making things up ok... I said thats what happened to me when I tried it. I didn't pretend anything.

Grow the hell up ok?

The point is if you dont know then dont post because this is exactly the way misinformation is created and spread.

The point is my friend.. there is a better way to disagree with someone or correct them.

I am perfectly able to accept that I am wrong and open to correction.

Got a tip for you... dont use your "technique" to someone in person... unless you enjoy getting punched in the face.

Enough please. My proven point is there is no reason to root the Inc and I have been completely and unanimously victorious in the debate so now lets please get back on topic.

Dude, half your responses are who cares. Who cares that you don't care. There are plenty of people that enjoy having freedom to delete the files they want, or use a different wifi tether, or take screen prints, or back up files. All these things people care about. Just because you don't doesn't mean they are wrong.

BTW go look up the word unanimously in the dictionary before you use it. Because just about everyone has disagreed with you here.

Stop attacking people that don't have the same opinion as you. Its childish, unwarranted, and generally frowned upon in this forum. Not to mention, this wouldn't have gone so far off topic if you didn't keep making points that only matter to you.

I must say the phone charges really really FAST now. Easily can charge from a dead battery to 100% in 2 hours.

^ this

In-car charging appears to be MUCH improved also ... I just ran a SHORT test, ~ 30 minutes, with GPS/screen on 100%/Bluetooth/Navigation/streaming to my FM radio and it was charging NICELY. Will try it this weekend on a multi-hour trip but I'm expecting good things.

I am using the genuine Verizon car charger though, it says "AC" when charging.

No problem, will debunk your list in 5 seconds...

1. Screenshots?? Who cares about taking screenshots of their phone in the first place?? and oooooo you dont need a to tether it to do it with root wow what a big useful benefit!!! not...next...

2. Stripping out ads? Who cares? I dont even notice the ADs. I buy or download the full version of apps anyway so no ADs.

3. Backup??? There are 1000 different free backup apps in the market. Too funny.

You see rooting offers nothing useful over the stock ROM. It only offers a less stable phone. There is no reason for rooting the Inc. Maybe if you want to feel "cool" then go ahead and do it but in reality there is no reason to.

As I said before, I can do ANYTHING useful with my stock rom that you can do with your rooted phone. ANYTHING.

Then don't root? Save the space for people with real questions about the update and rooting. Pretty simple

Interesting.... My phone already has Baseband 2.15.00.07.28 But Build number is: 3.21.605.1

Strange

Deanski

Now I'm confused with what was posted on another site as to Build number. It shows a different build number.

I see someone has the update and it IS Build: 3.21.605.1:confused:

So did my INC have this update when it arrived a month ago?

Thanks,

Deanski

Call me crazy, but, I actually like having City ID show me where my calls are coming from. I get a lot of out of state calls and this is an easy way to decipher where they're coming from. I wouldn't want to pay for it but seeing how I just got my Inc I'm enjoying it. I'm sure once my trial is over I'll be annoyed and root so I can remove that and other bloat.

BTW, I still haven't gotten the update yet. I live in MA, has anyone from MA received their update yet?
The area code number is free on other networks so why is Verizon charging for that!!!

^^ I'm also wondering because I just got my phone on 10/29 and my numbers are EXACTLY the same as Deanski's above.

I have the same build 3.21.605.1 and I haven't received the update and I've had my phone since launch day.

I bought my Incredible yesterday and it also has the same numbers listed. My phone doesn't list a software update available, so I'll just wait it out. Loving the phone so far. I did notice the battery was slow to charge and I thought there was something wrong with my phone; looks to be a common issue. Hope this update fixes that.

Ok, i will happily shoot your smugness down with one massive thing:
- SetCPU. Only rooted phones can use this, and it provides VERY useful battery saving settings, or if you wish to overclock, a performance boost. The ability to set "screen off" profiles makes the entire rooting process worth it; the battery savings are amazing, and can negate the need to buy extended batteries (or make extended batteries more valuable).. and that translates to effort and money saved.

I will dismiss your claim in 5 seconds.

SetCPU is NOT a useful tool. It has been shown the 65nm snapdragon CPU in our Inc. becomes unstable at even 1.1ghz. This is because it uses the older 65nm fabrication instead of the newer 45nm that all other 1ghz smartphone CPUs use like the Droid X, Samsung galaxy S series, Droid 2, ect.

As I said before, the snapdragon CPU clock is dynamic and automatically adjusts clock speed based on CPU load. If you set the CPU clock low with SetCPU then you loose massive performance. It sucks. There is no reason to do it since as I said the CPU clock is already dynamic to save battery life.

Screen off profiles??? LOLZ, all you have to do to turn the screen off is press the button, or set the display to turn off after a certain time in display settings. Too funny!

I have to say it....Owned.

I think you're missing what the Screen Off profile does. It doesn't turn off your screen LOLZ, it caps the clock speed so it won't occasionally increase and use more power when you're not needing it. Now, I don't know how effective it is, but that's just its intention.

I must say the phone charges really really FAST now. Easily can charge from a dead battery to 100% in 2 hours.

In an effort to get this thread back on topic, I can confirm this part. My phone charges MUCH faster than before I installed the update. Unfortunately the GPS and SMS thread bug are still there. I have not run into the dropped 3G yet...*crosses fingers*

For those asking:
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.17-g9a2fc6
htc-kernel@u18000-Build-149 #1
Build Number: 3.26.605.1 CL264707 release-keys
Software Number: 3.26.605.1

Would being on WiFi exclusively for the past 2 days have any effect on me not receiving the update yet? I know the "My Verizon" app can't run on WiFi that's why I'm asking.

i have yet to see this update as well, unrooted from Delaware.

and btw there is a way to reset the free trial to the city ID, just go into SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > MANAGE APPLICATIONS then click ALL at the top scroll down to cityID and open that and select clear data. that will reset the trial
