Is it possible to read ATT voicemails with Google Voice? What I am trying to do is to have on my phone a visual voicemails reader - similar to the one I had on iPhone. Any ideas?

Just setup Google Voice and use that, been doing that for a while with my N1.

Yes, I have set it up on my phone, but I can't find out how to read my ATT voice mails with it. Please help.

If you have Google Voice set up on your phone it should REPLACE your AT&T voicemail. So there should be no AT&T voicemails to listen too.

I dont know all this works but when I click Voicemail icon it goes straight to the ATT voice mail. When I was setting up Google Voice I set it to International calls only.

Stop trying the use both voicemail systems if you only want to check one voicemail box.
If you set up GV to handle your voicemail on the original number that came with your phone, it will handle all of your voicemail regardless of whether people call your AT&T number or your GV number. People will never go to your AT&T voicemail ever again. You can do this because AT&T allows free "conditional call forwarding," meaning you can have your calls forwarded to anyone (including GV) as long as it doesn't forward until AT&T would normally send it to it's voicemail system.
It sounds like the voicemail icon you're clicking on is for the AT&T voicemail app, which would explain why it's taking you to the AT&T voicemail system. Stop clicking on it. The phone is fantastic but not psychic - it doesn't know you mean the GV voicemail. You must download and install the GV app and click on it instead if you want to go to your GV voicemail.
The international calls only thing was when it asked you which phone calls you wanted to make with GV and has nothing to do with your voicemail. It means that if you dial an international number on your phone, the default is to make the call through GV, not AT&T.
Google generally has really good instructions on how to do things on their website. Have you tried reading the help pages on the GV website?
And you will never get it to retrieve voicemails that are already on the AT&T voicemail system - it doesn't work like that. As another person mentioned, this is a total voicemail replacement. If you just want transcripts of your AT&T voicemails, someone else might be able to suggest another app that does this.

You're welcome! I [against my will] do minimal tech support for my parent's iPhones. It's a totally different system, so I know it's not intuitive to anyone making the switch.

Different system but seems like greater potential with droid. iOS is nice, but I'm just ready for a change. I'm a Mac user so currently searching for programs to make sure I can keep functionality. So far found doubletwist.

When do you want/need a new phone by? Within the next month or the next year? If you're okay waiting until after the first of the year, the Prime promises to be a sweet phone, but if you want something sooner, go with the SGSII (which, coming from a Captivate, has blown my socks off). AT&T has a bad track record of getting the Nexus phones waayyyy after all of the other carriers (assuming you're looking to do this on contract) and it's pretty likely that Verizon will have an exclusive on the Prime for a good while since they passed up the SGSII.

It sounds like it. See this page on the Google help pages and it should walk you through it.
Remember that AT&T could charge you if you forward EVERYTHING to your GV number (you're going for conditional call forwarding here), but following these instructions should only set up your voicemail.
I'm looking to get a phone as soon as possible. I just sold my iPhone 4 last week before the announcement, to get a better price. Right now I'm using a nokia 2320 for the phone only. It's too limited for anything else.
Yes I'll be doing this on contract. Wasn't aware it could be next year before they get the Nexus. I'm thinking max I could make it another 1 or 2... days.

Lol, I think your choice has been made for you then. I hope I'm wrong about the Prime time line, but right now rumors having it hitting Verizon on Oct 27 and I think it's verified that Verizon gets it first.
We could start a new thread! I got one from my 16yo daughter and the word 'pregnant' got inadvertently added in the message. I got pretty anxious until I listened to the real message.

Another thing with voicemails or text messages. Is there a way to have any of buttons such as Home, Menu, ... glowing or something when you get a voicemail or text?

Lol - yeah, the GV transcription is a constant source of entertainment. My favorite: message from a tux rental place that said "Hi this is Bob with Fatty Formal Wear".
The app NoLed in the market puts an icon on your screen for different types of notifications. I used it on my Captivate and have been using it on the SGSII. It used to be pretty buggy but the dev has really worked hard at improving it. Free.

One complaint ... if I listen to the voicemail via the Google Voice app, i want gmail to mark that email as "read". is there a way to make sure that happens? I don't want to mark it read/heard in two places.
One other problem I had. Installing the google voice app changed my forwarding settings around, so that when i don't answer my cell, it forwards to my google voice #. I had my work phone enabled in google voice, so when i miss a cell phone call, it rings my desk phone. I have the option set to where anyone who calls that cell directly, should go straight to voicemail instead of ringing other phones. Anyone know how to fix that?
(i don't want my cell phone ringing when people call my google voice #, i mainly set this up so i can use my personal cell to call work people, without them getting my real cell #, or being able to reach me at that number)

As far as I know there is no way to make GV realize something has been read in gmail or vice versa. These are independent services, they just both receive notifications about the same messages. You can stop notifications from going to gmail in settings if you never need them there, but it sucks if you do want access there sometimes.
You need to go into the settings on the website and change your forwarding around (duh, I know). I don't have my laptop out to see the full settings on the full site, but you should be able to reset everything through there as you originally had it.
