Root Nub questions about rooting...

So I was thinking about rooting with the droid 2 method.

After that I'm unclear what is the safest method.

Do I...

1. Run Titanium backup
2. Koush's bootstrap recovery
3. install rom manager
4. flash a theme (which is the main reason i want root)
?

Is that my safest, most recoverable (is that a word) method? Or what should i do after root to be the most safe from bricking my phone?

As I understand it, you need to be rooted before you can do anything. Titanium is for root users.

Do you need root instructions?

First you root, then:
1. Run Titanium backup
2. install Koush's bootstrap recovery
3. install rom manager
4. create nandroid back up
5. deodex your rom
6. create another nandrod back up
7.flash a theme (which is the main reason you want root)

Make sure you have well charged battery before you started

Those extra things are only really required if you want to do themes or roms, right? What if I just want to root and change the .apk files of some of the apps to .bak so they don't run. Do I really need to do all those other things?

You don't need deodex you ROM if you don't want to install themes, but as far as back up....better be safe than sorry :)

how do you do create a nandroid backup?????

im learning all this root stuff good. got my phone all sexy. this term is still throwing me off..

You create backups by either booting into recovery and scrolling to the backup /restore option or you can use rom manager(by the same guy who released the bootstrapper recovery kuosh) if your going on an app removal quest, I would highly recomend backing up often.
