number of rings before going to voicemail

My galaxy s3 goes to voice mail often before I get a chance to get it out of my pocket. Is there a way to extend the time before it goes to voice-mail?

I looked and found just about every conceivable option - except that one. I seem to recall - from years back - that that's a carrier-settable function. Call customer service and ask if they can increase the number of rings before the call goes to voicemail. (Depending on the voicemail system your carrier uses, you may even be able to set that by calling your voicemail. Listen to the prompts for one about options.)

I had to call my carrier to have this set. I think the max they allow is 20-25 seconds. One ringing cycle is 6 seconds, so that is about 4-5 rings.

I used *61*121*11*30# and then hit dial (Where the number 30 is, that is the amount of time in seconds before you want it to go to voicemail) Example: 30, 25, 20, 15, 10 seconds. Change it to the number you want.

That's STAR 61 STAR 121 STAR 11 STAR 30 HASH then hit dial

Yes, it is a carrier setting, the maximum duration is 30 seconds. Call your provider and get the code from them to set it yourself or get them to do it.
