number@unknown.person

I keep getting this " number@unknown.person " and not the contacts name in gmail sms backup.

I am also using the app SMS back up to back up to gmail. When I click on sms messages it doesn't list the contacts name. It just says number@unknown.person.

Anyone else know anything about this and how to fix it?

Never seen that before. Do you recognize the number attached to it:confused:
I would always call and ask who it is
Just delete it from Gmail/your contacts all together-prior to making a backup in the SMS app:)

no.... here's what I mean, Let's say my brother John's phone number is 248-549-xxxx ... instead of showing " John's name " in SMS back up in Gmail ... it shows John's number like this...

248-549-xxxx@unknown.person then it will show all of the backed up texts from him.

This goes for all of my contacts, it is showing their number@uknown.person, then any backed up messages.

I hope i didn't confuse you guys, but I am confused as to why this is happening.

When you guys use an sms back up app to Gmail, does it display your contacts name " as it should " and then any backed up messages after their name??

Thanks for the help.

Have never had that happen using this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
It just saves the texts and restores them as they appeared when the backup was done.
I've never seen what you are experiencing -ever.

Believe me, I googled it before I posted a thread about it. Apparently there are a lot of people having the same issue.

It's not that big of a deal... I mean, I know the phone numbers of the people in my contacts list. It would be easier to see their names and what messages are backed up under them in Gmail.

p.s. I will try that app instead biggie and see if it helps. Thanks!!

Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it-or have you already?

Already tried that man... no deals. It's gotten to the point I am just gonna say screw it.

I see other people on other carriers having the same issue as I am having. They can't figure it out either lol.
