I've just recieved my replacement O2 phone, brand new, branded, and it's got Android 2.2 on it, looks like they're coming straight from O2 with 2.2 on them now.

It was the update O2 attempted to push OTA but failed. Instead they're pushing it out on their handsets instead.

I bought a Desire from o2 last week. It's still running 2.1 & shows no updates available. What can I do?

manually update it using the RUU thread where the latest o2 RUU is linked and has instructions to flash it

you do not need a gold card for this update and the version is accredited by o2

The RUU wouldn't run on my XP laptop. Error "This is not a valid win32 application".

O2 appear to have released the OTA upgrade today though.

the 2.2 ota updatew was rolled out again over the weekend by o2 and should be available on all desires now.
