The earth has been around for a bit over 4.5 billion years. Humans have been around for roughly the last 200,000 of those years. For some reason we are facinated by the oral stories of one particular bronze age people, and many accept them as the factual history of mankind andthe planet. To each his own of course. What I want to know is why people are so facinated with the idea of the world coming to an end. I mean the planet has been around for far longer than anyone can wrap their minds around and we have hardly been a blip in it, yet we are presumtuous enough that everything on it depends on us and that the planet's future is somehow dependent upon us pleasing some deity?
YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN..................
Wen are we going to admit to ourselves that in geological terms we are insignificant. the planet has more to fear from impact from space debris or from the sun's own lifecycle than it does from us. It was here long before us and will still be here long after we're gone. The only "end of the world" we have to fear is damage cause by our own ignorance and stupidity.
