Root Odd request...Wipe phone function off Inc

LP725

Lurker
I'm not sure if this can be done, but I have on old Inc that I no longer use. What I would like to do is just use it as a MP3 player and for the Torque app. I am going to mount it and hard wire it in my car. Is it possible to wipe the phone off the unit and just basically use it like I would use my tablet?...I really dislike seeing the phone options at the bottom of the screen and all the phone related no service etc etc

Not that I know of, the phone functions are pretty much built into the core of the OS, although it might be possible to apply a theme that hides them.

This method doesn't require root.

Use WiFi to access app store. Download ADW Launcher Free because it will get rid of the stock HTC Sense phone and drawer options and replace it with a Dock bar. Then go to ADW settings - UI settings - Main Dock - Main Dock Style --> set to "None".

To remove the Status Bar so you don't see the "No Service" and the "x" on the service bars, go to ADW Settings - UI Settings - Screen Preferences - Scroll down and click on "Hide Status Bar". And right above it, you can set the home orientation to landscape so it will be more like your tablet.

This will leave your phone with a fully customizable blank screen just like a tablet. There's also a lot of themes that you can download for free that will allow you to customize each individual icon to suit your taste. Hope this helps.

And about wiping the phone software, if sdrawkcab25 can't figure it out, it just means there is no way to remove it.

How about just use a full screen music widget on a screen adjacent to the main Sense/Rosie homescreen then just always leave it on that.

He's right, and in fact most home screen apps allow this sort of customization. Launcher Pro, Live Home and Go Launcher to name a few which I've used. But if all you want to do is play music from DINC, ADW is probably best for keeping it simple. It's the root that I would go if I had decided to do what you are doing.

After installing ADW, hit the HOME button - you will get a prompt to use ADW or Sense. Hit the Set Default button first, and then choose ADW - and then you'll never have to deal with the un-tweakable Sense phone button again.
