Help Odd start on my text messages!

When sending a text to my daughter this morning she told me that at the start of every text it starts with du the first time then dul the second time and the third it sent dune.
Each of these have symbols above letters and are not something I typed out. Does anyone know why this is happening?

The standard one that came on the phone. Never changed to a new one.

Has it always done this or did it just start? Have you recently changed anything software or downloaded any new apps?

Possibly a language encoding problem, is it getting things like European accented letters, Chinese etc. What country are you in and who's your carrier?
