Help Offical Moment Update

Nice! So we can bring our phones into a service center tomorrow and get the update? Why can't we just do it ourselves from the "Update Phone" menu?

No one knows why sprint is doing it this way.. ask the store..
If you didnt catch on at the bottom of that thread.. it says it should be baseband verision 4.OS.CL and the one we are using is 8.OS.CL ... no idea what hte difference is yet...

geez. I finally get z09 onto my phone and now this... at least my coworkers can walk into a store and get theirs updated. Then they'll stop bitching to me about the battery (hopefully).

I am really interested in this.. since cl14 wasent released open source yet we havent been able to look at the kernel files and see if they did change the battery reporting code...

Granted.. Mingsum Kim could have just taken the battery reporting code i e-mailed them and implemented it in the kernel for all we know (bastard never responded to my e-mail)

I'm sure if he replied back he'd say you did exactly what they had done, but appreciate the email nonetheless. I guess I'll tell them to do the official update, and I'll remain the guinea pig to see where to go next.

I don't get why Sprint is doing it this way when they did the update for the Hero OTA. I just hope someone here posts the update soon as my local sprint store only has a tech that works 3 days a week and those are the days I'm always at work.

Maybe for the reason why a pre release version that slipped in through Studio was bricking phones so they thought it best to have it done in house. Maybe it's a bit touchy. Just a guess.

that's kind of my guess too, just odd that they can do OTA with the Hero, but regardless this is good news for us Moment owners.

My device has a H/W version of M900.8.0 while the posted Maintenance release document shows M900.4.0. That may be the difference in Baseband version#.

@numus: I tried to register on sdx-developers.com forum and after entering username (momentoid), email, it will not let me enter passwords and thus does not let me register. Who do I contact to get access?

What do you suppose would happen if I took my Moment into a Sprint store for updating with the ZE09 kernel loaded on it?

I will probably just wait for a flash-able version of Sprint's update to get released in the next few days ... or who knows, maybe they'll release it on New PC Studio or something.

They probably won't flash it for you if the tech looks at your version information before they flash.

Yah, if the tech is paying attention to the kernel version I figure a simple refusal to update my phone is about the best I can hope for - I'd be more worried some kind of "WARRANTY VOID!" stamp will be put on my record somewhere. :p My only hope is that the linked-to release makes note of the baseband version and build number but does not mention to look at the kernel version before flashing.

Of course I could always re-flash CJ05 before taking the phone in, but since the earliest I'll have the time to get to a Sprint store is next week, I think I'll wait and hope that someone in the community releases a .tar for the Sprint CL14 build.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to wait for a few weeks to see comments before I jump and update. No need to be the first one to update especially if it causes some issues.

Zefie brought up a good problem.. there is a possibility if you have sprint flash cl14, then our odin boot flash will not work anymore
(meaning you will not be able to root and flash your phone anymore)

I'm feeling lucky, so I'll be a guinea pig. Since there's a new repair center a block from me and I'm home today I'll try to get my phone updated. That is assuming the repair center has the upgrade available. I can see the link for the update info, but sdx is down and I can find no other info elsewhere. I was planning to flash to zephie's this morning anyway. As for not being able to root affterward, I don't think it will make a huge difference considering the entire OS is due for a replacement sooner than later anyway.

Can anyone post the actual article/note?

I tried to register at the forum where this was posted and it says 'in maintenance mode' "we will be back later."

Also, has anyone actually had it installed yet? Can't wait to hear what it does!
