Help Offical Moment Update

I was able to get the update (+1 for the Richmond, VA store on Midlothian Tpke), but ever since then my phone is showing 100% wake time as opposed to less than 30% pre-update. It is 100% under Android System Network Usage. I have only reinstalled all the apps I used to have. Settings all the same.. GPS/Wi-fi/BT off. I don't auto sync anything and Background data usage is disabled...

Anyone else experiencing this?

Well I am somewat having the same problem I feel that my battery has improved a little amd I feel it hasn't and I also see the same thing on my phone were it says 100% awake time and I know I don't have it awake all the time lol and same here all apps and everething the same to pre-update maybe some less apps.

IIRC, mine was near 220 or so before the update with all my apps loaded. Now after the update, it's 158 with all my apps reloaded.

Do you happen to have AppManager?

If you do, that will tell you how much space is set aside for apps, and how much you have left.

Right now, without the update (no stores in my area have it, a few knew nothing about it), mine says it had 279.

I'd be interested to see what the "max" available is after the update.

Can anyone else confirm if I am imagining things, but these issues are resolved, I believe, with the CL14 update. I have noticed (can't confirm) that the new in-call screen moves those buttons lower on the screen and makes them smaller, lessoning the risk?

I'm at the Sprint Store at Fenton in Silver Spring, MD right now. They told me that they would attempt to update it, but no promises.
Thanks for the info that this store could do the update--I work just down the street. I want to buy a new Moment (don't have one yet) and ask them to do the update before I walk out the door. Do you remember your tech's name?

Hi Jendawn, Which store did you go to? Did you have to re-install all your apps and settings?

Martonic,
I took it to the Sprint store on Bay Area Blvd right across from Baybrook Mall. It's right next door to Beauty Brands.

Yes I had to reinstall the apps and reconfigure the settings. It was a small price to pay just to get the dang battery meter to read correctly.

That would be great cuz I'm CONSTANTLY muting people! ;)

cant confirm...and i agree, I place ppl on mute as well...but I have a small amount of bad news...yesterday day I placed someone on hold accidently and they hung up before I realized what I've done...and this is post update CL14. it could have been just a random anomaly, so one may not want to take this post into consideration...just thought I'd comment on an experience

I got mine updated at the Corporate store in Gaithersburg Md :

527 Quince Orchard Road
Gaithersburg, MD 20878
(301) 987-5220

Took them 2 hours but its cool, I gave them extra time just in case. :) If you're in this area you can also go to:

Sprint
835 Rockville Pike
Ste F
Rockville, MD 20852
(301) 424-2200

They are both offering the update and have been successful on all phones that they've updated. I've noticed significant better battery life, the GPS now works correctly and overall a better phone IMO. My available memory now shows around 170mb compared to 220 or so before the update. I guess it takes a lot to fix all these bugs. All my contacts were there but no apps, i just downloaded them again. I notice that it is clearer when I place it on speaker phone. Sprint TV works great and so does the Navigation. Overall worth the time and effort to get it done. Hope this helps. :)

Good for you - I agree with all of these EXCEPT - my GPS is still flaky and will not find My Location! When it thinks it has - the spot is about 1 mile away in either of 2 places or the Google map shows a circle with a blinking spot in the middle somewhere within a mile or two. I have tried "every combination of settings", including powering off the phone and removing the battery :(

I am looking for a solution in the (San Francisco) Bay Area. I googled Baybrook Mall and that's in Texas  but thanks! :)

Hi - considering that this update takes a lot of memory that was formerly available for apps :( is there a way to store apps on the SD card - or will that be possible after the update to Android 2.1?

I believe mine are in the exact same spot post update. I don't have problems with mute, probably because I hold it on my left ear but constantly have the sudden BLARING speaker button accidently pressed. :) I also somehow hit the HOLD button and I still cant figure out how to get it back to the call without hanging up...

Can anyone confirm that the led home lights blink when a message is pending? I noticed that they were lighting up when the screen was off and I had a text in my notifications bar. Though I do not know if it works with handcent.

Also, Google maps placed me about 15-20 miles from my correct location. Then after about 5 mins it corrected and nailed it on the money. Anyone else having an issue with that delay?

FYI, I'm at 28 hrs off the charger ;)

I thought I might finally have some time this afternoon to go over to the repair center today, but I called and they said the update is available OTA. I checked and it's not for me yet, has anyone heard a realistic date they might have it figured out since the repair stores cannot be trusted?

Thanks,Scott

Yes, Handcent does this.

Does anyone know what it used to be? After restoring all my apps, then loading maybe 3 more, I found myself getting "out of storage space" errors in the Notification Bar, and when I went to ADB I saw I only had 4MB left.

I'm not rooted so I can't see what was is taking up all the space in /data, but I couldn't believe that some ~15 apps (the largest being only 5MB, with most hovering around what? 200K?) could take up 180MB of space.

I even looked around in "Manage Applications" to see if any particular app was using a lot of app data, and nothing. I ended having to actually uninstall a bunch of stuff.

Yes, it comes stock with 279 mb. I had a similar problem earlier with my storage last weekend. I had about 15 to 20 apps on my phone and I could of swore it was at around 196 mb. Then one day I got the notification saying low storage space. Not sure what caused it, but I think it was a glitch or something. Mine actually got down to 0. I deleted a couple of apps and only got it up to 5 mb but the notification was still there. So I wasn't really sure what was goin on so I just did the reset in the settings. Probably should of erased all my messages to see if that was the problem but I didn't think that was the problem so I didn't wanna piss around too much with it. I backed all my apps up with Astro before hand. Kind of a pain in the butt, but it fixed it. Market didn't recognize the apps so I had to redownload through the market anyways, just in case you were wondering. I downloaded this pretty cool widget the other day called "Internal memory widget". I find this handy because I always check to see what my memory is at and now I have it displayed right on my home screen all the time. (81 out of 279 mb used) Plus I have 20 or so apps on here again with no problems so IDKWTF. Also have the "SD card memory widget". Just to be clear My phone is stock, with no updates or custom kernels.

****update****

I realize that most of what I said didn't really have much to do with the thread but I feel obligated to finish what I started.

Just wanted to say I think I know what the problem was. I was at 84 mb used and Outta nowhere it was up to 99 mb. I didn't install anything new. So for some reason I long clicked on lockbot pro on dx top home and it got me to application info and it said 9 mb in the cache. So I cleared it and my storage went down accordingly. So of coarse I went through all my apps and the browser had 5 mb in cache. Several other apps were cleared also. So at the end of the day I took my storage used from 99 mb down to 69 mb just by clearing the cache's. I hope this helps someone in the future. thanks for listening.

Yes, Handcent does this.
Fantastic! So we have the working notification lights now.

Now, another question.
If I am downloading an app from the market, and I receive a phone call, the phone call does not go through AND the market freezes and will not allow me to make phone calls. In fact, I have to pull the battery to get my phone operable again because it will not even allow me to shut down. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes, Handcent does this.

Am I missing a setting for this then with the update? I got a text about 20 seconds after I read this, I stared at my phone for two minutes... didn't see the LEDs go on. Is this working with CL14? To my knowledge we still needed a 3rd party app, yet to be written, for this feature.

The update is out 5 days now and I still can't find a repair center in NYC or Nassau County that will do it. They either insist that it doesn't exist, is OTA, or being a bit more truthful, that they can't get the upgrade to work. I understand that with only ~10 million people living here, it wouldn't be a priority for Sprint to have at least one repair center in the area adequately trained and/or informed. Fortunately, if I were to travel through Wichita or Kansas City I would have no problem. So pathetic!!!

Just curious, what's your aversion to going rogue with some of us and doing it yourself with the benefits of Zefie's custom kernels?
