Help [OFFICIAL] 2.2 ota is live for evo

I have two EVO's that I am updating to 2.2.

The first downloaded the file and then when asked if I wanted to apply the install it went to an all orange screen. It hung on this all orange screen for like 20 minutes until it started the install screen and after a bit it updated to 2.2 successfully.

My wife's phone downloaded the file and when prompted to install I said yes and when I said yes it went direct to the install circle and gave me a progress bar. The progress bar completed in about nine minutes and now it has been stuck on the 4G screen and has not moved for almost an hour.

Both stock non rooted phones bought on the 4th of June. I am confused about the different reactions to the upgrade.

Would you yank the battery????

Thanks.

Well at first I wasn't even able to DL as it said no updates were available. After rebooting the phone still a no go. Then after updating my profile it said the DL was available. 4 hours later.......its finally downloaded and seems to be working well so far!

Hopefully my experience will help others as it took an hour and twenty minutes for the phone to get off the stuck screen and boot to 2.2. no battery was pulled.

Has anyone backed up using Titanium, reset the phone, done the update, then restored from backup? That's what I'd like to know. After checking every hour or so for the last day the update finally showed up 15 minutes ago. I'm in NYC.

stuck screen meaning the triangle +! I hope because I am having no luck. Are you rooted to unrevoked 3? They are saying that is the cause of the problem

re: camera conflict with LED flashlight

Do other led flashlights cause the issue or just the one mentioned in the threads?

An issue I noticed with the contacts is if the contact is linked with twitter it will automatically use the image from twitter instead of the image from google. Not sure how to change it to default for all for the google image. This is a minor issue and not sure if anyone else has noticed this.

Loving Froyo so far. I wish HTC would have put the option to use the stock Android 2.2 home launcher. I think the stock Froyo 2.2 looks a lot simpler and looks more attract over the cluttered buttons on the bottom of the Sense home. I also was looking forward to a new lock screen. Hopefully HTC will take a hint and give us an update to switch to the stock Android home. Android is about user customizing and being able to have the phone the way you want it. Taking the ability to switch between the stock and sense home takes away from some who enjoy going back and forth between the two.

Anyways, Froyo is nice and enhances the phone a lot. Looking forward to the next update.

Ohhh, i see. Thanks. So that test that shows MFLOPS and other measurements isn't accessible to everyone ?

It's called Linpack and it's free in the Market.

It was originally designed to benchmark CPU/compiler combinations in a controlled configuration; was once upon a time highly useful for making complex compiler decisions.

Personally, I think it's singularly the most worthless benchmark (the app is fine, the benchmark itself is lame) on a mobile processor that I could ever imagine, but if you want to try it for funsies, it doesn't hurt - I ran it for funsies.

Keep tapping the run button until you get a high number. Use Settings-> Applications and kill off every USER app (read: your stuff, mail, browser, facebook, etc), then have at it for higher numbers. (If you kill too much, power-cycle your phone.)

On 2.1, it shows 6~7, on 2.2 it shows 30s~40+.

So, it tells you that the JIT compiler used on 2.2 does a great job.

Something that your longer battery life and general experiences are going to tell you anyways. ;)

Well all done. Download and install painless. Temporarily lost Swype, had uninstall and re-install, lost Astro Pro, re-downloaded works fine. A lot of stuff that was off turned back on, as noted especially Google Talk. Using Launcher Pro and on re-boot, went right back to that with no loss of functionality. Haven't noticed much speed change but to my eye, this particular phone couldn't be any faster or smoother. 20% or so of apps movable to SD card; a simple operation. Cameras (have three) and Camcorder all fine no problems. All in all like opening another "tie" on fathers day and I've opened my share. (EarlyMon as the sage here knows what I'm talking about). :-)
