.::Official 2.2 SBF Update Thread::.

I found out why I was not charged and you may be getting charged.
They sent me a refurb (like new phone) and you were sent a new phone. I got my phone today, there was a smudged or something on the screen. I couldnt get it off. It was on the black surrounding. Everytime I looked at the phone I would see. Very annoying. So...I called. The lady was going to charge me like they have you. I was like wait a minute you didn't charge me for the replacement I just received. Then I told them I got a refurb and they said oh......nevermind. I did get the smudge off, well kinda. I told them not to worry about sending me another one....not worth the hassle....So...now I have my X. YEAAAAA.
I downloaded the update. Hit install later, wonder if there is a way extract this file and then use it to fix my bricked phone...?
 
nevermind....only thing I would be able to do is copy the OTA update and not the full bootloader system. I'm updating to OTA 2.2 as I type. Then going to root. Then go from there...
 
I've been searching the internet looking for the 2.2 OTA update.zip for the last few days, I found this post on droidxforums.com

I have 2.2 OTA running on my phone right now and everything is fine, I was in search for the SBF or update.zip because I wanted to install a theme on the phone and wanted an update.zip or SBF to fall back on just in case.

I haven't tried this yet, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and tried it out?

Were you able to pull the update before updating? I'd like a copy of the update.zip to fall back on just in case I mess something up on my current OTA 2.2. Just wondering
 
currently bricked.. ended up reading all this stuff after i tried to go back to 2.1, so pretty much after you get the OTA there is no way to get back to the leaked 2.2 right? also where is the 2.2 sbf!!! i need it soo bad phoneless until then damn warranty is voided cuz i took my phone inside the bathroom once while showering so they think i have water damage!!

Have you try flashing the sbf v2.1 to this phone? Unless I missed something in this thread, this should work. I have bricked mine several times (relooping power cycle, stuck at the M, main screen and then powers off/on, etc..) and managed to salvage the phone with the 2.1 sbf.
 
well when i had the leaked 2.2 i screwed up my phone a couple of times and i was able to use the 2.1 sbf to get my phone to work again but once i did updated to OTA 2.2 i wanted to go back to the leaked 2.2 so i tried flashing it a couple of times using 2.1 and it doesnt work and you pretty much cant because signatures have changed etc.. dont know too much about why... just waiting for 2.2 sbf to come out so i can flash it and hopefully that does the trick!
 
so are all of us that did the dumb move of using the 2.1 sbf on a 2.2ota still boned? or has the 2.2 sbf been leaked yet?

I think most of them got replacements. The OTA porked a lot of phones and they won't even question it if you called an told them it messed up your phone.

Just call verizon and say that the OTA messed up your phone...They'll walk you through some troubleshooting (obviously they won't work)...Afterwards, they'll send you the phone overnight (tell them you really need the phone for work and stuff)
 
i have an old lg tritan i reactivated so its not a huge deal to not have my droid x i just wanna get it working again, ya know. lol.
 
well i took it to verizon and they said we cant help you because you have water damage, and the water indicator is not even all the way red also the indicator on my battery is completely white!! im thinking of just opening up my phone and replacing the water indicator i ordered a pack of 5 from ebay hopefully they are the same ones. then i can get a replacement lol... but my question is, is there a way they can find out i opened up my DX or not?
 
Recently Upgraded to 2.2 OTA, Then without thinking downgraded to 2.1. Screen was stuck on:

After much talk about a Full 2.2 Sbf i did endless searching and found this..
VRZ_MB810_2.3.15_1FF_01.sbf, Dont know if this is the one you guys where looking for, but it fixed my problem.

So i was able to successfully SBF back to 2.1 and take 2.2 OTA update. I am able to SBF back to 2.1 because I NEVER took OTA update, and was running leaked froyo for some time. If you took OTA update before, you will not be able to SBF back to 2.1.

I don't see a difference between the leaked and OTA version. They are the same to me.
