If you're on 3 then this information might be useful:
- 2.1 Android with software number 1.21.405.2 is an unbranded Desire
My Desire is rooted and I'm running a DeFrost ROM. Will I need to change something in order to get the OTA update? (I want Sense back.)
I.e. do I need to flash a stock unbranded ROM?
I'm gonna love looking at this thread on monday ,
see how many people are saying " well, maybe next weekend, but its coming !!!!!"
now, how do i get gingerbread on my G1 ?.
In your link i dont see a rom for Orange UK users..... im gonna wait for a cooked rom of the official release, but was just wondering why Orange don't have one there......?You need to install the HTC 2.1 ROM on the phone. But its very simple. Just download and install HTC Sync. Then download the correct 1.21 ROM for your phone on your PC and flash the phone via the USB cable.
It is a piece of piss, follow this video on the unlockr. It is idiot proof:

For those rooted, make sure you follow the steps in the attached link before installing the 2.2 update.

I'll be waiting for a custom ROM (of the official release).

You're gonna take so much stick if you brick your phone, you know that dont you![]()

Anyway, how long do we think a modded ROM of the official HTC 2.2 will take to arrive then? How fast do the XDA guys usually work?
I have an unbranded unlocked htc desire with the latest official 2.1 android installed. My phone is rooted but I havent installed any custom roms. Will I still get OTA or do I have to unroot my phone ?
You're not the same Jammy who did a web vid of you picking up your Xbox360 at launch are ya?
i thought with news like this that htc would have announced it themsleves.
Well I have a branded Orange Desire. Whilst the branding doesn't bother me too much, the 2.2. update seems like the ideal time to move from the branded 2.1 ROM to a "virgin" HTC 2.2 one.
How difficult is this likely to be? Should I be looking to put a standard HTC 2.1 ROM on there and then allow the OTA update to download automatically? I'm also concerned about the lack of an Orange ROM should I need to send it back under warranty - is it possible to backup the original ROM and then revert to it if needed?
