Official Android 2.2 Discussion

It would be good if someone could run a benchmark when they get the update....I use quadrent and the three phones faster than mine are all running 2.2. The same phones running 2.1 are slower than the desire. The increase to 2.2 is quite significant.

Hopefully this will put the Desire into top spot as the fastest Android phone (Currently the nexus running 2.2)

I, however, will have to wait till September for T-mobile to issue an update....Their techie guys have a whole month to add the voicemail settings etc....wish I had that job !!

My score with quadrent using modaco 2.2 with sense rom averages around 1200, will be interesting to see if the official 2.2 rom will increase that score.

Well my Desire on 2.1 is only 538 !!! The Nexus running 2.2 is top spot on 1300 ish.......

Do you notice this speed difference in reality ? I can't say I ever notice any lag.

Still, would be nice to know it is running faster

This is my Desire running the latest Defrost ROM. I'm not overclocked so I'm sure this could be made much faster.

TBH no i dont notice much difference.

I debranded my (t-mobile) htc desire phone to stock rom (v1.21.405.2) will I get the OTA 2.2 update?

Edit: It's not rooted.

How do you do that? I don't see the point in having a branded Desire on T mobile since it doesn't actually offer anything. As far as I can tell it's only the logo on boot-up!

I'd love to get an unbranded device so I can get HTC updates earlier. Right now I have to wait for Google to release an update, then HTC to tinker with it, and finally wait again for T Mobile to do whatever the hell it is they do. So many cooks!

Same as what I would like to do for mine

You don't have to root your phone to phone a vanilla Rom on, you can just create a goldcard and then flash the generic HTC Rom 1.21.405.2 on to your phone.

Looks like the news items regarding the update were a lot of waffle.....lol...whats new in the world of Android.....lol....maybe next weekend

Cutching at straws here but would it not make sense for HTC to push this update out late at night when the networks are less busy?
so late tonight/early tomorrow morning?

You do realise the update rollout was only STARTING at the weekend.there's no way they would do every desire this weekend.people waiting all day and constantly checking updates must have something better to do surely?

Are you trying to imply that they push it out to one handset at a time?;)

Actually, i think it's a red suit, and they use the chimney.
It's a global delivery service that specializes in overnight delivery.
It's a slow time of the year for them so we should all get it quickly.

this is what they told us here in the Philippines.
