I note that you have taken out a contract with Orange. I was thinking of taking out a 500mb data contract with them, but am having trouble finding out how much I will be charged if I go over the useage. Can you help with that? Is it worth an extra

I have an unbranded Desire on on the 3 network in the UK. I have manually checked for new updates nut the only one showing is an update to 1.21.405.2. Has anyone else had their update on an unbranded 3 Desire? Will the Froyo update overwrite the other update when it finally shows up?

No, I am referring to apps already on my phone. I have been through the application manager selecting each app. As I said previously, most of the have the "move to SD card" button greyed out.
oh right I am with you now, yes you are correct aout stock apps. hmmmm

Still i have no complaints or issues with my t-mobile UK desire on 2.2 absolutley everything works, even my problem with emails coming though out of peak times.
YES I AM VERY PLEASED

yessir, first thing i did after i read it fixed someone elses issue.

almost contemplating doing a full restore of the phone so it will definitely pick up the update hah...might give it a day and retry first though :P

phew, thankfully my patience stayed strong, woke up this morning and tried the update again and it found and installed it fine!

Yes but i hope we will get a chance to select the place to install then we download a app from market.....

It's not markets fault it is the developers, and not really their fault either as we have forced 2.2 onto our phones and the developers are probably waiting to release their software soon with install to SD.
Give them time all will be happy.

I have an HTC Desire I bought unlocked in Australia (and put on the Optus Network). When it arrived it was a T-Mobile branded German phone (box and instructions in German, T-Mobile logo when starts up, etc. (Which is kind of cool since I am moving to Germany in 2 weeks.)

I am currently in the US visiting family and haven't received a Froyo update. :(

Is this because I am

1) In the US?
2) On T-Mobile USA network
3) On a German T-Mobile branded phone

Any ideas?

I am hoping I'll get the update soon (I keep checking the "system software updates", but no luck) or that once I get to Germany it'll magically show up to download when I install a German SIM.

Does 2.2 allow you to watch iplayer via the official website in the internet browser, or are u using a 3rd party app for it?

It does allow you to watch from the website, but for me, playback is very choppy.

May open a separate thread for this, because I know it's not my connection.

Probably just number 3.

The update was only for unbranded phones so until T-Mobile Germany release a branded version of 2.2 I don't think you will get anything..

I don't think you being in America should affect anything as people in other countries outside Europe have got the update on unbranded phones bought from the UK.

hey, updated my htc desire to 2.2 the other night with 3 and now my mobile connection to the internet/3g doesn't work. any clues?

you have to go into settings and tick the box, I had the same problem, seems to default to no tick :D

Make sure you select the 3 network also in settings, mine suddenly jumped to Orange Roaming :(

Set your browser to allow mobile versions of webpages and reload to the mobile iplayer site then you will be sent a video stream optimised for mobile. Lower quality video but at least it's not a slideshow!

Yesterday I had the chance to download the OTA update but I was on 3g so I did not download. Today I only get "your phone is up to date". I tried a reboot and tried every few hours. Any clues?

Since I sucessfully updated to 2.2 on my unbranded Desire, I have lost the 'Privacy' menu in 'Settings', and as a result, the ability to back up to SD card. This happened to anyone else?
