After reading these posts about LauncherPro, I've decided to try it out.

It looks sweet, but when I want to add a widget, most of the original HTC ones are missing. Is it possible to add the original HTC ones? I'm thinking of the default clock/weather one, bookmarks, contacts etc.

How do you remove text underneath icon shortcuts?

I have been using it and manage to remove it from apps on my desktop but if i have a label for example games and that opens up to 4 apps that are games how do i remove the word games from beneath the icon

Thanks :D

It's a great homescreen, however it gets rid of all the android default widgets! I really liked some of them like the home clock and calendar! (switched back to htc sense now cos of that!)

the clock doesn't bother me and the calendar i can live without, my main sense widget is the mail widget

Anyone have any idea how to access the sense wigets when running LauncherPro? I like LP, but I want to use the default Widgets.

Hi mate

What calendar widget is that?

which are sense widgets?

The default widgets that you see when using the sense UI. Bookmarks, Clock/Weather, Contacts, Music etc etc.

The problem is I have my Sense UI set up JUST The way I want it. Using the Sense Widgets.

But.....

I prefer the home screen, app animations, and general features on LauncherPro.

So on a personal level. I want LauncherPro with the Sense Widgets. :(

Me too.

I like having the four apps at the bottom on every screen.

Is there anyway in LauncherPro of setting the default action for these 4 buttons? I use Handcent SMS for texting, but the message buttons opens the default HTC messageing app. Is there a way to set it to open handcent instead?

Andy

Just long press on it I think - then it'll allow you to remove anything you don't want and replace it with handcent/dolphinHD etc etc

same here.

On the topic of 2.2, I've been using the DeFroST Rom over at xda for a couple of days, and I have to say its very nice. The newest update only has the video camera not working, essentially. Using Launcher Pro, too, found it to be really nice. Call me simple but I love the swish animation between programs and the app launcher and the home UI.

If anyone is using Launcher Pro and has root, I recommend trying out the DeFroST rom.

Is there any more info on a date for 2.2?

Has it been confirmed that 2.2. will have bluetooth voice activated dialing??

Still not even out for Nexus officially yet.

I'd like to ask that cocky, smarmy little sod at I/O how superior he feels now. That's right - demo it, boast about it, then don't release it on your own device!

SAWEEEEEEET ;)

No, nothing confirmed whatsoever.

There was a rumour of 23rd of June but I would say the odds against that actually happening are astronomical!

Last I heard (which was last week), Google were still applying bug fixes and minor improvements. So for the 23rd to work Google would need to finish whatever it is they're doing and release it to HTC who would then have to add their own software to it... all in the next 8 days!

Smart* money is on the vanilla build to be out by the end of the month and the HTC Sense version to follow some time in the next two months.

*by 'smart' I mean 'hopelessly optimistic'

appreciate the update, i just got and feel a little overwhelmed, i love it but seems to be so many apps and customs, i need a guide lol

I recently installed Launcherpro and love it...The only problem is the widgets..
Are there any alternatives to the sense widgets that work in similar ways..For example the clock and weather widget with the animations, the news widget and messaging widget. Are there any alternatives to these if so i would seriously opt for launcher pro instead of the default sense ui..If there are any can anyone give recommendations....

HTC should release 2.2 on 23rd that would take some of the attention away from iphone which woyuld be a smart move by htc

Mate: there's little or no chance of that happening.

A: HTC won't release 2.2 for the Desire on the 23rd. You'll be lucky to see it this side of Christmas if historical data is anything to go by (know any Hero owners?)
B: A froyo update won't overshadow the iPhone launch. They've shifted 600,000 in the US alone in one day of pre-orders. There is a world outside tech where normal people live. Android is amazing, but it's not for everyone - just for us ;)
