Mate: there's little or no chance of that happening.
A: HTC won't release 2.2 for the Desire on the 23rd. You'll be lucky to see it this side of Christmas if historical data is anything to go by (know any Hero owners?)
B: A froyo update won't overshadow the iPhone launch. They've shifted 600,000 in the US alone in one day of pre-orders. There is a world outside tech where normal people live. Android is amazing, but it's not for everyone - just for us![]()
Ask anyone in the street have you heard of the iPhone and you will get 99% of people saying yes. Do the same for Android and you will be lucky if you get 10%.
Apple don't sell their products based on technology or a good OS, they sell it on brand image - something that Android can simply not compete with. But then again, it doesn't have to, as it is slowly sneaking into almost all new smart phones... same as Windows did back in the 1980s...
