thats probably it then jon your address-most companies will want three years worth of uk addresses to let you have finance with them in this country

I cant get a contract because everytime i've tried from a Third Party site i got refused. Its due to me being 18 and having literately no Credit History. Everything else ticks the boxes. Just the lack of history. So i've decided to get the help of my mum and ask her to sign up. It's more hassle for me to pay her and get her to put it in her account but i MUST have that phone. MUST!

I've always been gadget mad, and had that MUST MUST feeling. But for some reason, I'm holding back on the HD (and it's not just because of that proximity sensor fault). I've started a thread in this forum asking those who have got it how - in use, not just specs - it's better (apart from the obvious screen size) than the regular Desire. No relevant responses yet. I'd like to know whether it is that big a step up from the Desire.
 
I can't wait to access my new slingbox prohd and see how it views on the DHD compared to the Desire. Tech city in my house of late lol!!

Shame the sling isnt HDMI though.

well, 3years uk address only applied when i ordered through online. if i apply one from in store i need to have at least 3months credit history in the uk with any phone or sim only contract. The problem is all the network company doesn't want to give me a contract to build up my credit. so how do i start? lol..
 
Bit odd, isn't it.

The retail for that, sim free, will probably be almost as much as the DHD. If you don't mind O2 that's a very decent deal.

Apply for credit cards and what not. They help build up your credit report. If you phone up credit experian they really help. You get a free 30 day trial to check your your credit report. And when you cancel people on the phone can give you advice on how to build it up. It takes time but you'll get there. Most people tell you to go for contracts that cost a lot less like

it doesnt really matter of u dont need a cc jon just apply for one and it will look good on your record

ive also heard of going payg for a while with one network and they usually let u switch to paym after a few months
 
hmm.. i will till next week and if MPD pass mine then is great but if not i will consider this option or get a sim free or lend my friend card. LOL.
the guy in CPW told me i can only sign a contract after using payg contract for 4-5months and change it to monthly contract but that is way too long to wait. haha.
 
Been into CPW Ipswich today to have a look at the Desire HD, and in fairness, I think I will be keeping my
 
amg_1969: If I had an original Desire, I don't think I'd be getting a Desire HD either. You're right that it isn't a huge step up.

I however have a Galaxy S and it would be very nice to have a phone that actually worked properly so the Desire HD is a massive step up in that respect!

I did look at the Galaxy S today, looks a nice phone, pity its made by Samsung, also from what I have read not all Desire HD's are working at the moment:D

For someone whos been using this phone for the last 4 years. It's a big ****ing step for me hahah. I cant even make calls on it. Thats why i'm getting a DHD after a bit of looking around and the hype surrounding it.

Mine's arrived! Ordered Tuesday evening and got it today, not bad at all and as an iPhone convert I can safely say I've been missing out!

Nope i ordered mine tuesday afternoon as well lol,

after visiting there stores i did get a sense of ineptness from the people i spoke too as well...

I got the confirmation email from them, followed by a email stating the phone is out of stock and there'd be a delay and they'd email me once it'd been dispatched, and nothing since!

you experience the same? apart from the you having yours

My bad, not at all, dude on the phone was very helpful, he did mention there was a delay in sending them out but that was down to them having to bundle a leaflet with it, turns out DHD may have a problem sending MMS and HTC and T-Mobile are looking into it. Haven't had a chance to test yet though.

Where did you order yours?

This was after calling into their stores regulary to try and get a release date from them, none gave me a precise date, or bothered to check for that matter either.

I just have a bad feeling about this, i should check my account and see if they've taken my hard earned lol.

I'm growing impatient, Windows 7 handsets are available now, and they were announced after the Desire HD!

You're welcome, keep us updated. Unfortunately nowadays the only way of getting decent service or information is off the interwebz, most of the time anyway.

Something else for you too, I only got it today as I paid extra for special delivery, it's quite possible yours is on it's way, if you have standard delivery, just taking a little longer so fingers crossed! :)

I had considered a Win7 phone but the interface wasn't appealing at all. Not sure it can be changed though, but that's just me.
