I've been trying to decide.....guess I've waited this long....what's a little longer? Thanks.

That's a new one. Everyone else has been telling us to "jump in! The water's fine!"

For nearly all of us, the jump to 2.1 has been awesome. For a select few, problems have crept up. Namely the problem with sound dropping out on calls. Find the thread if you want more info. Yes, there is always risk and if you're not a risk taker, then stick with 1.5 till OTA.

Lots of folks thought that v2 may be the OTA release and then we got v3. Really, v3 is likely VERY close because it could go prime time and bugs would be minor.

That is a bit too general of a notion, "if you're not a risk taker then stick with 1.5."

Different people take different sorts of risks with different things in their lives.

It might be more accurate to zero in on the specific, in this case. "If you're not willing to take a risk with the functionality of some aspects of your phone, and perhaps also risk disqualifying it from receiving the OTA update, then stick with 1.5."

i wish Verizon would just make up there mind, and release it.
Sorry to tell you this but, VZW has made up their mind. They are going to get it build relatively bug free, try to get it to where the OTA doesn't wipe things from your phone, then release it when it's ready. They can't commit to a date because with each fix that is made it could create other issues. The same as any other software built. Be patient or install 2.1v3 or root.

Seeing how crappy the leaks are, I'm not so pissed the update has been delayed. Clearly it was built to go back when the first leak came out in February or so? But all these bugs are screwing it over and despite having two updates prior to the original beta, the same issues are still there.

Something tells me the beta leaks are staggered. We're on v3, but perhaps testers are on v4? When VZW releases v5 to see if the problems are fixed, the beta testers drop v4 and take on v5? There's no way we're on the cutting edge of the beta testing. Or we could be, I dunno.

But I think it makes sense that once we have a bug-free leak, we can start thinking about the OTA. Since the v3 beta has the silent call and 50% issue, I can't see VZW still letting it go through without testing a fix for it. Therefore, I think we'll see v4 in June sometime.

True.....lol.....my job is very dangerous and I guess you could say I take risks every day I go to work. But I cannot take a risk of my phone not working as a Phone.

in all honesty, if you want the "phone" part of your phone to function as it should, no questions asked, stick with 1.5

i had no idea about the audio bug before I installed the 2.1 leak and have regretted installing it ever since

i can't even begin to count how many calls were dropped due to the audio bug, and how many times I have had to reset my phone thanks to that dang bug

yeah it is nice having a smartphone with all the cool ins and outs, but if the phone part isnt actually working then what is the point....

blue... if I were you, do not upgrade to 1.5

I really wish someone would have been this persistent with me about not upgrading to a leaked version

Thanks NPH. I will probly just wait for the OTA upgrade. I like all the other cool features of the smart phone....I use the calander app....the internet access....photo albums....camera and video....and of course the PHONE....
Of course I want faster, smoother, and less laggy but I can wait.

Define "discontinued." It means lots of things.

The Ford Crown Vics were discontinued. They're still on the streets today.

Oh wow.

Here's a tip. Read the link. You guys are cracking me up! End of cycle.. it means they aren't being made anymore. Yes, you can keep the one you have... Let's use our brains, please. It is that thing between your shoulders inside the hard, round thing.

Look... it really is OK you have an Eris! Seriously!

Just posting a link to people who don't believe me. Something tells me this thread will just continue with idiocy.

Good grief.

If the Incredible "replaces" the Eris.....what happens if I need a warranty replacement device?

You get a refurb if they are still in stock. If they are no longer in stock, that's a good question.

I believe they have to give you a device that's comparable, but I'm not sure.

honestly i hope they don't just get fed up with everyone demanding 2.1 and push the latest 2.1 leak just to shut everyone up....

i honestly think they are trying their best to get all the bugs worked out before they send it our way....

i mean has the hero even gotten their update yet? and it has been around longer than the eris

I'm okay with them discontinuing the phone (It has to happen sooner or later.), As long as they deliver on their promise of 2.1 ...and not some semi-ready beta version!
