See this is where information contradicts each other, I would say your pretty safe in the long term. One key point Sprint is trying to push is data+voice unlike with 3g where it wasn't possible at all with 4g it is possible the software or drivers to do it just isn't completed yet. I'm 99% certain that Sprint will push hard for this to happen and get over the competition's ads about no voice+data so even though it might not exist or not be working right now I'd put stock into having it working within a year from now or less.

Well the original point of the discussion was Voice+Hotspot. Since Hotspot is, I assume, a subset of Data, this turned into Voice+Data. If Voice+WiFi works, then technically you could hotspot the WiFi... but if you already have WiFi then the things you're creating the hotspot for is kinda pointless. Hopefully they do fix the 4G Voice+Data though, cause I can see this being a big marketing boost. And AT&T won't make stupid commercials with that less funny Wilson brother cracking jokes at our expense.
 
I'm pretty sure that during the Las Vegas presentation they already hinted that they had the ball rolling for 4g+voice so I wouldn't be surprised if it worked on release or shortly after. It would be a huge selling point for them to tell the world oh look not only can you talk+data but you can do it at 4g speeds. So if it's not available at release I doubt it would take much longer than the end of the year when the new markets open up. Unfortunaely for us CDMA users we will never see it working over 3G.

Okay, Thread status update,

It took be the better of a day and a half but the following has been done...
1-Extracted all technical WiMax posts from this thread and placed them in the 4G Wimax thread.
2-For those posts that can be in both threads, I simply copied the post over.
3-Removed any really off-topic posts.
4-Merged any members back to back posts to reduce clutter.
5-Renamed this thread to "Official Sprint HTC EVO 4G Info"
6-Renamed the WiMax 4G thread to "Official 4G/WiMax: What is it, why do we want it."
7-Renamed The 4G/Wimax coverage thread to Official 4G/WiMax Coverage Areas"

A few other things I would like to point out are...

A: from this point on, please place any postings into their proper threads.
B: please feel free to use the edit button to add additional comments to your existing posts instead of having back to back posts.
C: If you see yourself getting into a heated debate over anything, please take it to the private messaging system (PM). These threads are being followed by the media and your fellow AF'ers and we do not want to set a bad example.
D: Any issues you may have whether it be with a post, another member, a flame, spam etc, feel free to use the report button. I may not be here all the time, so any one of the staff can take care of it. But since you all will be following point # C, I don't think we will be seeing reported posts now will we. :D

Although we may have had a small hiccup here and there, you are all doing a great job keeping it civil and orderly. Pat yourselves on the back and now on to

Here is a link to the Android Dev site on the topic of Live Wallpaper... if I read it correctly the Live Wallpapers go way beyond fancy animated GIF files or video files --- these things are actual programs that can link into things like GPS and compass... really cool stuff. It will take more than Photoshop skills to make one of these. On the web site it also specifically states that live wallpaper started being supported in 2.1.

2) if it is real, how come nobody else is mentioning/pumped about this info??? 2 wks after 5/9 would put it around late May 5/23, which is 2 wks earlier than the supposed 6/6 release. that would be awesome! :)

3) when you say presale, how will that work? like you put a deposit down and one will be held for you on the actual release date? or will they be for sale on 5/9 to the public, but only in limited amounts?

any additional info/explanation you can add to this LS would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

LS1 has an eye twitch. The wink is involuntary. But he also posted the screenshot of the EVOs in a warehouse inventory.. I think he's on the inside somewhere and can't release too much information. And the presale is probably just reserving your phone. Ensuring you get one on release date.

I trust Jackson at this point - skeptic at first. I don't trust a random screen-cap...

Naa, its no biggie, I love doing this stuff. (Translation, I have no life, lol) Between the two AF's, this one and the other one I admin in, plus my own website, tweets, etc I'm surprised I haven't had a nervous breakdown (although the Incredible thread almost did me in.) :D
This is my home setup, although the systems been upgraded since then, on one pc its this AF, on the other its the other AF and on the laptops its my website etc. You figure I would lose weight by running between each pc, but Nooooooo, it just doesn't happen. lol

Anyway, enough about me, on with the Revolution.

Nobody directly involved wants to break NDA and few probably have the direct info. Supersonical/wjackson seems to get mainly good info from an insider. LS1 seems to work for Radio Shack. Then there was another guy (I forget off the top of my head who) working on testing and was very much under NDA and did not want to give any info.

So far it seems the one guy who can give good info can't talk, Supersonical will talk but he gets info from another guy who has some knowledge but only passes on the basics, and LS1 may or may not work for a third party retailer. No idea how real those inventory sheets are. Seems like the kind of thing someone would fake as a joke and since he has said little else, it's hard to judge the quality of his info.

LS1's release date of May 23rd does coincide with Jackson's statement, that third party retailers would be selling in late May. I haven't considered getting a new cell phone from a Radioshack though. That's about the same as getting one from one of those mall kiosks. It just doesn't seem legitimate.

Gotcha. I haven't kept up with dates mainly because nobody can agree on a specific or official date. I'm assuming it's still not set in stone by Sprint, hence the different info from different sources.

I'd love to see an earlier release but since I'm not eligible until June 6th, anything before that will just be a big tease for me :D

Not that I know anyone who's done that...... just sayin'.

I know how difficult modding can be from my own experience and think twospirits and bill have handled this beautifully. When posters help police each other its a great help to the mods, and have been more than impressed that so many people are able to keep things positive.

That is great news about Sprint hiring. Hopefully this economic recovery is U shaped and not W shaped, which I fear it may be. Regardless, I don't expect the high-tech sector to really be hurting.
