Sounds like they are keeping this one under wraps until the big reveal. My guess is not until tomorrow. Today they will have some random stuff at their booth but not this.

Today is my day off from school so I'm watching Hulu and working on my essay to kill the time...but I'm still impatient, I keep checking Engadget. It's like a disease :D

Orion check out the Wimax Coverage thread

NYC will have 4G by the end of the year.

End of the year? Wow that's far away. I'm still getting this phone.

That doesn't sound like a "ground breaking announcement" to me. I think we just have to be a little more patient.

Perhaps Sprint made an error on day when they first made that "ground breaking device" announcement?

It seems kind of out-of-sync for a general public announcement to be made 1 day prior to its CEO's keynote speech.

I hope I'm wrong though...

If you look at the WiMAX Coverage thread, you'll see that you're one of the lucky ones. WiMAX is for data, but the Supersonic will work with WiFi and WiFi hot spots also.

Yeah I was just looking through that thread...thanks. This phone is going to be very powerful.

I still wonder if they plan on letting the info out to Premier members a little early as one of the "perks"?

Also I dont think I have seen this link yet on here, it says an announcement is coming at 4:30 ET today? If it is a repeat I apologize, this thread is growing to quick for me to keep up with.

Sprint Doubles Down on Unlimited WiMAX - Reviews by PC Magazine

The article also addresses the questions about 4G costing more and according to this article the answer is NO. And no cap on usage like they do on the 3G.

And it addresses the LTE and Wimax issues, interesting read.

The first CTIA webcast just started. www.cnbc.com/id/35983401

Edit: This link is available on the home page of this thread and it gives me confidence that we'll actually be able to watch Dan Hesse's keynote live tomorrow at noon EDT.

The current keynote session is featuring AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega and J. K. Shin, president of Samsung's mobile business.

I found this webcast also and I like it better: www.video.ctia.org

Great find bimmjo! If that holds true and with Verizon talking about possible tiered data plans just for 3G...Sprint is going to gain ground FAST.

Does Baltimore have 4G yet? Its advertised pretty well at 2 sprint stores I went to and they had a little 4g laptop set up I think. Was I using 4g when I was surfing?

Randall Stephenson, Chariman, CEO and President, AT&T is speaking at CTIA and his emphasis is on 3G. He said AT&T would be "rolling out 4G over the next 3 or 4 years".

Yeah, we got it during Winter 2008. I actually got in on the beta test through some really good luck and persistence. Got a free Wimax laptop out of the deal too :)

The Clear site is a little messed up and since Sprint's Xohm was rolled into "Clear" they still haven't added Baltimore to the map. Still, if you search your address in the city it will come up as available. I use a 4G modem for my home internet since it's about as fast as basic cable internet (around 5-7mbps down) and costs as much as DSL ($25 for 6 months and $35 after that). In addition, when I move to another place in the city I can just bring my modem and plug it in without messing with new wiring.

Anyway, glad to see more Baltimorons on here besides myself :D

From the article.

Announcement is what is going on, launch will not be until after it clears the FCC.

I wish I were there, I would of very carefully broke in last night, to have my supersonic today.:D

New to forum... been following this thread and can't wait. Been holding off on a new phone for 2+ yrs. that will do everything I wanted and it's almost here. Come on SS.

But the main reason I'm posting is to say thanks Billsmed for keeping things on topic. So many forums start a topic and by post 5-10 it is off in another direction / topic. Great job!

Jon
