Like it was said before. I believe there would be a SS announcement, then at the keynote tomorrow, Hesse will focus on the 4g/Wimax rollout. Since that seems to be the theme at the CTIA.

I still wonder if they plan on letting the info out to Premier members a little early as one of the "perks"?

Also I dont think I have seen this link yet on here, it says an announcement is coming at 4:30 ET today? If it is a repeat I apologize, this thread is growing to quick for me to keep up with.

Sprint Doubles Down on Unlimited WiMAX - Reviews by PC Magazine

The article also addresses the questions about 4G costing more and according to this article the answer is NO. And no cap on usage like they do on the 3G.

And it addresses the LTE and Wimax issues, interesting read.

I would like to add to what bimmjo said: "Sprint is committed to WiMAX, but Sprint's decision to go with WiMAX isn't irreversible. The vast majority of Sprint's WiMAX investment can be converted to LTE, the 4G technology chosen by the three other national wireless carriers, if Sprint deems it necessary. WiMax and LTE are very close to each other. We're very committed to 4G, and we will follow the industry as it grows," Tarazi of Sprint said.

I've seen many comments about WiMAX and whether Sprint was taking the wrong turn. It hardly seems that investors in WiMAX, which include cable operators Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House Networks, as well as tech giants Intel and Google could all be wrong and this answers that question officially.

What we're seeing from Sprint is a very aggressive push to get WiMAX deployed as rapidly as possible. That has become even more obvious this week and again today with the announcement of more markets for its planned 4G expansion, among them Los Angeles and Miami, plus Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and St. Louis.

AT&T said they would be deploying LTE over the next 3 or 4 years and T-Mobile is expected to lag behind as well. Verizon hasn't even started to deploy LTE, but they said they would start this year. Because of its vastness, it's expected to take them 3 to 5 years to deploy LTE. A couple of weeks ago, Verizon did announce that they would have their first 4G phone by the middle of next summer. By then, Sprint should have their WiMAX network well built out and we'll probably be looking at Supersonic 2011 by then.

So does this mean that there will be a hands on with the phone today or just a "yes it is coming, give us more time"? I would hope they would show us something good today.

New to forum... been following this thread and can't wait. Been holding off on a new phone for 2+ yrs. that will do everything I wanted and it's almost here. Come on SS.

But the main reason I'm posting is to say thanks Billsmed for keeping things on topic. So many forums start a topic and by post 5-10 it is off in another direction / topic. Great job!

Jon
Welcome, Jon and thank you for your comments. I really appreciate it.

So we are getting some sort of news. LOL I feel like a little kid waiting for presents underneath the christmas tree.

Yeah, just saw Samsung guy announce the new Galaxy S but we will have to wait for the SS.

Now the floor is open so maybe some news will start trickling in...not just about the SS but lots of other cool stuff too. This is the fun part of the day when Engadget will be blowing up with photos and reviews.

Yeah, so far I don't see where or how to be a part of the 4:30 announcement, but you know there will be a flurry of information to follow and Engadget would probably be a good place to get the latest scoop - with pictures and specs, I hope.

Their 4G has always been uncapped. That was one of the reasons they were moving to newer networks. They support high bandwidth and no caps at a good price not feasible when using the 3G tech.

I'm not sure if this has already been posted but here's more confirmation of uncapped 4G through an email:

Sprint announces seven new WiMAX markets, says 'Let AT&T and Verizon yak about maps and 3G coverage' -- Engadget

Sounds like Sprint is waging war and I say right on brotha :D

Yeah, I saw that earlier today. I'm glad WiMAX is finally coming to LA. Geez, is it 1:30 PST yet.

Also, just saw this on HTCpedia. http://htcpedia.com/news/htc-ctia-2010-show.html?l_page=1&p_page=1

Hmmm...I wonder what's behind there.

I honestly would walk right up to that case with a crowbar, do work, and walk away with the Supersonic. How can the people there control themselves???

I can' stop searching and refreshing. I hope 4:30 brings something great. My work PC is going to have some time surfing the net waiting for this.

@androidcentral says on Twitter that they are heading to the Sprint event now and to stay tuned. I know I'm waiting!
