Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I just read the last 4 pages of this thread and feel like you guys are setting yourselves up for failure by trying to convince yourselves of a May release. That, and everybody is grossly over-exaggerating the impact that Apple has on Sprint.
You're entitled to your opinion. I'm still sticking with May 22nd unless they tell us differently at the NYC event. Everyone's so down because there's no new news. What's wrong with generating some hope? It's only harmless speculation on my part.

and what if one of the surprises is instead of a 1ghz snapdragon, it has a 2ghz snapdragon? =P

yea, i know this one is a bit far fetched...
Yeah, I'd say so. At least my prediction has a good chance of coming true. If it didn't, I would have said so.

So let me get this straight...They're waiting to release it because they want to make sure that the 4G works just right for the 30 something cities that will be 4G ready so that their will be no complaints from people. So what happens when the several hundred/thousand cities without get the EVO and have those same complaints on a huge scale? I live in south-eastern Wisconsin. 4G would be great right out the gate, but I can do with an early release and just use it on the 3G network!

Your area means nothing.

They want to make sure the major metropolitan cites, airports and subways are working..

How do you screen Prince of Persia and introduce The EVO streaming it if there is no 4g Coverage?

30 something cities??

Try 50-60 or more cities with 150 Million plus covered 5 months ahead of schedule.

Well I guess I'll be covered then!

Good article Jackson but sometimes I feel like those reps you chat with are full of it and just tell you what you wanna hear. I mean its not like you could complain about it. She prefaced the May and June comments with "Unfortunately we do not have information about the launching date of this phone." But then again someone working for Sprint that is supposed to be able to field these kinds of questions may have been given a general time frame to tell people. No?

As of right now it is still a June launch because it seems like Sprint will be launching the Nexus One in May. They would not want to release both of these phone in the same month. A phone will be released around the May 12th and possibly May 22nd date but it isn't the Evo. Sprint Nexus One On Schedule for Launch | CoolTechZone.com
That one I don't believe. I think they need to concentrate on the EVO 4G and not the N1.

So far, no one has convinced me that the EVO 4G can't/won't be released on May 22nd.

I'm sorry but this was already posted from a different site and the sprint rep just seems to be saying yes to the person asking the questions... I would like a better foundation before confirming a may release for the N1

I don't know if it was up to them or T-Mobile just called dibs or what but it seems like Google missed the train on what could have been a lot more Nexus sales by waiting until phones like the Incredible and the EVO were announced. I agree with that Sprint cares much much less about Google's N1 sales and more about the EVO.

So by the time the people agree, sign the legal contracts, and get their Evos, it would only be a day or two ahead of the public. Doesn't add up.

I agree totally, the only way it would make sense was if it was to really throw people off. But I am going to keep saying June 13th so if comes any sooner I will be happily surprised.

Eieio, with the Sprint phones roaming on Verizon's towers for free and the EVO being able to switch back and forth from 4g to 3g.. Will it still be able to roam on their towers under 3g? Also how strong is a 4g signal from a tower? Distance wise how far away can the average user expect to still have coverage?

23 minutes left.. I thought I would get better questions than this
Do you want us to ask about WiMAX (which seems to be your area), the EVO 4G, the May 22nd release date you and I are both suggesting, or whatever we have on our minds?

Hmm...

Is there a system in which wimax is being deployed other than population??

I live in Monmouth County NJ, and while you were showing testing of Sprints 4g coverage a few days ago you happened to show Red Bank, NJ (about 15ish miles from me) which is not nearly as big of an area as any of the cities officially mentioned.

I guess my other question would be, with all points made FOR a May 22nd release, do you (or Bill or anyone that is on this bandwagon) have any points against it OTHER than Jackson's or Self Praise's posts saying otherwise?
