From Sprint's EVO page:

Mail in Rebate:
Requires purchase by 6/5/10 and activation by 6/19/10. Line must be active 30 consecutive days. Allow 10 to 14 weeks for rebate.

So it looks like you have to by the phone within in 2 days of release, or else it'll be $300. And you don't have to activate it in store.

However, the Sprint e-mail states:
Mail-in Rebate: Requires activation at the time of purchase. Line must be active 30 consecutive days. Allow 10 to 14 weeks for rebate.

LOVE
the ambiguity Sprint.

Better get in line everybody.

I'm so thrilled we finally got a date and price. FINALLY!!! I think 199 is a steal for this awesome phone. With that being said....I'm having a brain fart!!! Are we being charged an extra $10 for 4G or what? I'm seeing no and I'm seeing yes. So what's the deal?? It's so funny with every answer leads to more questions.

Okay, so I got an email from my EVP rep talking about the EVO, release date and pricing.

It also mentions the $10 monthly fee for 4G. I asked for clarification on it, to see if it's optional. He told me that if you're not in a 4G area, you shouldn't be charged.

The confusing part is, he also went on to say that you only get charged if you use 4G. That just doesn't sound right to me.

The way I look at it is this way. This is the biggest, baddest, fastest phone available today. If you want it, go get it, and when the bill comes, pay it. If you don't want the biggest, baddest, fastest phone available today, keep the phone you have.

If you wanna drive in the fast lane, you gotta buy a fast car!

Seriouslly all you can do is go and try... let's say I have a BK and a buddy of mine isn't in too much better shape and I didn't need any kind of deposit..... don't judge me....

That's what I'll do.

It appears my best choice now it to go to Best Buy and purchase it there.

I'm always wondering how these companies work with phone companies.

I mean, If I go to best buy to save $100 mail in rebate, which seems like a no-brainer to me, then I would pay $199.99 + tax + activation fee

The thing is that on top of all this, I have to terminate my T-Mobile contract. Right now I only have to pay $100 because mine is in the 90-180 days left expiration period.

If I have until June 25 to terminate it, I enter the 90 days left expiration period, and I only have to pay $50.00 to terminate contract.

But that won't work because I will port my T-Mobile number to Sprint, so I have to terminate contract when I purchase EVO on 4th.

Does Best Buy do all that? Or you can only buy phone there and then you need to go to Sprint to activate line?

...my sister's xB zooms down the fast lane with 100 hp... Lol

yes, bestbuy can do all that

$10 for 4G is a must, REGARDLESS of whether or not you're in a 4G area.

720p video capture was really good. On par with a Flip HD with a quick glance; but I'm getting one to test next week and will try that out more then.

Absolutely NO CONFIRMATION about pre-ordering via RadioShack on the 21st like BSOD had said. Should know more on that tomorrow; will update you all accordingly...

Yup, yet another thing jackson was WRONG about. I'm sure people will still keep building his ego reguardless of the fact that nothing he said was true except for the first week of june guess!

This is what I wrote on the other forum: For the record, Jackson, while providing a lot of excitement to the forums you posted on, almost EVERY SINGLE THING you said was a fact, was incorrect. Seriously not one thing that I can think of came true. Amazing really.

I know, I know I go to both forums, but really AF is my fav forum on the web. (other than hogville.net - razorback sports forum)

So how do we confirm Best Buy preorder details? I was just at their site, can't find anything showing they will email details when available.

1. Circles still there
2. Must have earphones plugged in for FM radio
3. June 4th not 6th
4. $10 for 4G

Hmmmm....

funny. just out of curiosity, i looked at his post history. his last 4 posts were wrong, the 5th says "evo will outsell iphone."
