Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Also saw this today. No idea how real it is.

Looks interesting. Specs look like guesses though...I'd be surprised if Super AMOLED (which I believe is a Samsung proprietary technology) ends up in a HTC device before they've even started using it widescale themselves.

does anyone know when 4g will be available in Los Angeles, and when it hits there, will it cover Orange County (next county over) also?

on the sprint site it says coming soon, same as NY. I live on Long Island had same question was told that once they get it going in the city they will work quickly to spread it to the suburbs.

Try a search. Los Angeles is coming by the end of the year. No idea about Orange County.

It looks nice but it is no EVO. GSM is no good.

That looks ridiculous. Those specs are hardly believable.

I'd put very little if any stock into those specs. It says 16gb of internal storage plus up to 32 on the sd card slot, HTC or any other phone maker for that matter has never done this and it's a complete waste of resources to have both, it will shoot up the price of the phone considerably for very small extra feature, why have both I'd bet that never happens.

The Scorpion will be a MID- Mobile Internet Device. Kinda like the Dell Mini 5 only better...

I'm not doubting you or your info and I know that I am pretty unknowledgeable and stupid about this stuff but I had thought that Scorpion was the code name of the new 1.5Ghz dual core processor. Kinda like Snapdragon = 1Ghz processor we will all know and love quite soon.

We don't call the Supersonic/Evo the Snapdragon...so why would we call a future device the Scorpion?

Again just looking for a little clarity I guess.

I just remember the specs on my phones just a year or two ago. These things do increase at a decent rate every year or two. The specs we have on the Evo now are like something straight from one of the old "describe your dream phone" threads on PPCGeeks back in the day.

4.3 is kinda big but 4.5 is kinda rediculous

I wouldn't consider anything bigger than 4.3, its already wide enough to achieve 4.5 you'd have to make it longer since any wider it would feel like holding a brick in your hand, it's a cellphone made for portability if I wanted a larger screen than 4.3 inches I'd really consider a netbook.

Don't know how true this is, but I've been checking in with Sprint about once every couple weeks to see if they have any news on the EVO. According to the chat session I had today, the rep stated that the EVO would not be released until late summer (August) and absolutely not before then.

I really hope not. I've been waiting way too long already for a new device.

Pretty bummed.

No...the HTC Scorpion is the codename for the device in question, manufactured by HTC. We aren't talking about the Qualcomm manufactured processor (which I believe is still going to be called 'Snapdragon'...like how AMD called everything "Athlon" for a while I'm guessing).

neodorian, that render has been up for a while even before we knew the supersonic was called the evo . it's supposed to be the successor to the HD2 but running windows 7 since the HD2 wont be able to upgrade to it .

now is it real ? i have no idea but it is something that htc can make easily. even if this phone comes to life i wouldn't call it the successor cause the HD2 was just launched this year in t-mo and having the next one up in the same year is not cool . but they say windows 6.5 is dead so it could change . we will have to see when we get in Q3 . Or this could just be a new phone all together .

I COULD BE WRONG BUT I DONT SEE ANY SUCCESSORS COMING OUT THIS YEAR FOR THE SMART PHONES THAT ARE BEING TALKED ABOUT .

Sprint CS reps know less about the phone than you do, trust me they once told me they didn't know when the 2.1 update to the Samsung Moment would be released because the device wasn't officially released yet... even though I was holding one in my hand.

and t-nutts im sure we could stream movies but i'm not saying it's official abou tthe netflix thing. that's something we were just throwing in the air for a good idea . i just hope the flash works to the point i can go to channelsurfing.net to stream live nba games when i'm not at home .

The 1GB RAM and 16GB Internal storage are instant BS indicators. Those numbers are crazy, not to mention 1280x800 on a phone! That's the resolution of my laptop!

Being a "successor" just means that when the HD2 is phased out, this will take its place. No mention of time frame. This is one of those things that is probably fake but might as well be real because that is probably what an HD3 would look like based on the previous HTC phones (Touch, Touch HD, HD2, etc) and how they have progressed.

agreed. and the retail reps don't know much either. but they sure ramble on and on with stunning confidence like they think they do while we are forced to listen to their ignorance and half truths.
