1. i don't like the big rumpshaker backs. not on my devices and nor on women. "No man should date a woman with a bigger ass than he has - because it's only going to get bigger." - Sir Charles Barkley

2. i don't like those third party batteries from Seidio etc. i don't trust the electronics.

what they should do is increase the size height and length of the battery to match the phone - rather than increase the thickness. if youve ever held the HD2 the device is THIN! almost too thin! i say make a thin battery but make it the entire size of the back of the device. so you get more battery "mass" from height and length and don't need to recess the battery into the device - just lay it on top like a deck of cards. yeah it might add 1/8" but the HD2 is thin anyway. (im assuming HD2 and EVO are comparable thickness). so take a current battery, add more mass to it, but smash it flat to cover the entire back of the device. make any sense?

I've has stuff from Seidio before - the only complaint was the battery COVER for the extended battery for the STORM, I used the same battery, with a different (their's also) back on my Tour - no issues.

I mostly thanked you earlier for that Charles Barkley quote, XD.

But, I completely agree with your statement, I think most cell phone manufacturers should build around the battery, and make it more of a primary factor, rather than simply leave the matter of the battery as an afterthought or simply a secondary concern.

I know most of us here are not fans of Apple products (neither am I), but one thing I did find interesting is how the battery for the new iphone will be integrated into it:

Since the touch pro 2, HTC hero, and the evo have the same battery I think you will be able to find some good deals on spare batteries on ebay because there will b a lot of batteries out there.

I agree with Gekko's assessment in that battery design should expand by length and width but not depth. I know it would be easier if nanowire technology could be implemented sooner but it would be nice to just have the battery be a flatter part of the phone that is actually integrated with the back "cover". There shouldnt be a flimsy piece of plastic as the cover and then a battery underneath. If you just integrate the 2 parts you'd have a battery the same size as the phone, flatter, and have a more solid feel because the battery just locks into the back of the phone as the cover. And while you're at it, put a thin solar panel layer to continually charge the battery when not in use.

I have been wanting a solar panel to charge my phone since my first one! That would be great innovation.

So just thought I'd share my experience with my recent Sprint telesales rep. I called in to find out if I would have to put down a deposit (which I DON'T...very GOOD news). So then she went into the whole "lets get you signed up today" deal, and I told her "no thank you, I am waiting for the EVO 4G" and without missing a beat she proceeds to ask me, "well what is it exactly about that phone you like so much that you are waiting for it?" I could've just dropped the phone!!! I was wanted to say "are you serious, don't get me started" but instead I responded with I must have Android OS, so then she proceeds to try and sell me the Palm Pixie?!?!?!?!! I told her "that has Web OS, NOT Android" and she started in on how the Palm Web OS is so much more reliable and more organizational functions...I just laughed and told her thank you my reason for calling was answered, and chuckled as I proceeded to terminate the call.

Good times LOL...the Palm Pixie, HAHAAAA...sorry no offense just not my cup of tea when I am highly anticipating the Evo!! Well here's back to the countdown for our beloved EVO!!

I see your point but the point of a cover is to protect the battery so if they make a battery intergrated into the phone itself then what if something happens to the back of the phone ? a battery can't just lay around on something . the point of the cover is to protect the battery and even with the cover on the battery now a days it can still get damaged from over heating or something so i don't think that would be a good idea .

So I went to Best Buy today and asked about the Evo. The girl told me that they expect it to come out in early June for somewhere between $200-$300 and that they should get it a week before Sprint does and that I could pre-order it.

Now before everyone freaks out and tells me that I can't believe anything she said.......believe me, I know! I'm just saying that it pretty much goes along with most of the info we have gotten. I would REALLY love to get it at Best Buy and avoid the MIR (Mail In Rebate) and to "hopefully" get it a week earlier than Sprint.

I also stopped by Wal-Mart and picked up the HD2. I have tiny hands and I was afraid that it would be too big, but I'm happy to say ladies (or gentlemen) if you have tiny hands it's no problem! And man the size of the screen is NOICE! :D

The best response I can come up with to that is LOL. :D webOS is good, but the Pixi certainly is not.

i think they follow a script to ask you open ended questions and lead you into a Sprint phone. probably helpful for the majority of customers that are clueless but not so much for the tech savvy who know what they want.

Don't know why this never occurred to me before, but I just looked at a calendar and I thought Sprint usually releases phones on Saturdays. So wouldn't that mean that the Evo would POTENTIALLY come out on the 5th or the 12th as opposed to the 6th or the 13th??

So, after going to the mall, picking up the HD2, and playing with it, the rep comes up and asks if he can help me. Not to get too involved I tell him I'm out of contract soon and seeing what's available, and how I was wondering if the screen would be too big. His response, waiting for the evo, aren't you? Who here has been to the rockaway nj tmo store... Lol. The screen is amazing, and it is now only making the wait even worse, while staring at my 3.1" amoled screen (or trying to in any direct light...lol) :(

He has what they call in the business an extended battery, I've seen them as big as 5000mah and as little as 1200mah, the actual size of the battery doesn't change if it did the battery wouldn't fit. These batteries have been around for a long time and are usually sold by third party vendors for specific devices.

Example: Amazon.com: Extended High Capacity 2300mah Phone Battery for HTC Tmobile Google G1 G-1 + Black Cover: Cell Phones & Service

If it doesn't fit the original back I wouldn't buy it plenty of reputable 3rd party battery companies make entended batteries to fit the device perfectly, by the wat the link I posted is a cheap battery as well just wanted to give you an example.

I actually have that battery in my G1. Its a good battery got it last summer
