As of right now i just know that it will be more tahn the incredible. I have heard a numer of 10 gigabytes for internal storage though.

VOiP is amazing. It allows you to make calls directly over the internet, thereby no wasting you ur minutes and if you in an area with bad reception with wifi you can hook riht up to that for a perfect connection

Thanks for the update, bro! If it's more than the Incredible, I'll be extremely happy! Heck, even the same amount as the Incredible was enough for me to be happy with it.

Hey everyone, I just want to clear a few things up.

All of us here are welcoming to anyone who wants to contribute to this thread. Infact we want to know everyone even those lurking because it helps us understand who our "audience" is. What pisses me off though is when someone just chimes in on their first post and says we're getting off topic go talk about this somewhere else. That will not be responded to well ehre, atleast not by me. I treat you all like a family, and hey if you want to share something exciting taht happened to you, or an experience you had with the "Evo", or a basketball score tide into a post go for it. I'm not saying go crazy off topic TS would kill me for that, but remember we are a social community not a bunch of robots yeah?

I appreciate everything you've posted here, since you're basically the lifeblood of the thread, but good lord did you take my comment out of context.

I really didn't expect this kind of OMG GET OUT reception for coming in and saying that I value all of the info in this thread and wish some of the extreme fluff that has nothing to do with the phone in any capacity would go away. God forbid.

I could not imagine Sprint charging more than $250 for the phone unless they do a payment plan similar to what T-Mobile does. Either way, they should price this "very agressively" (at the most $199) at least for the first 30-60 days to get as many of these phones to as many people as possible.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but I've never used VOIP for anything. If the EVO is going to have VOIP through a 3rd party app, does that cost extra to actually place a phone call through VOIP? How exactly would that work? My only familiarity with VOIP is through land lines that are connected through VOIP.

Have you ever used Skype? Skype is VoIP. Voice Over Internet Protocol. It's just a way of sending a live voice stream through the internet, in the same way that you send email.

The 3rd party app may or may not be Skype.

Alot of times it's free to call someone using the same VOIP app that you are.

For instance, take Skype. You can freely call another person using Skype, however, if you want to call a landline of any sort, you have to pay.

Granted, this could be different for the Evo, but that's how a lot fo VOIP apps run today.

EDIT: Looks like I was super late at answering, mods can delete if they'd like.

Nah. Never used SKYPE, but I'm familiar with it and I'm also familiar with what VOIP stands for.

Isn't SKYPE a paid service though? I thought there's a monthly fee for SKYPE, is there not?

If you call someone else with Skype, its free... Just like voice chatting over aim... Wouldn't it be ridic if the evo got it's own AIM w voice an video chat!? Or am I the only one still using it? Lol

Nope. A call from one Skype account to another is completely free.

What costs money is calling from Skype to a landline, because then it passes from the Internet to a physical telephone wire.

just thought I would post this I found it a good example of the new touchscreen sensor HTC is using in Incredible and EVO, compared to N1

^ VERIZON IS NOT GETTING THE NEXUS ONE! BAHAHAHA

ohh cool, they are still testing though...

For the most part, the Incredible is a superior device, so it should come as little loss. However, it also casts doubt on Sprint getting the Nexus One, I mean, think about it, why would only 1 CDMA carrier (and the smaller one at that) get the phone when it would be mostly compatible with the other one?

It would make more sense for Sprint to get it though, since I believe the Nexus One and HTC EVO are different enough beasts, whereas the same cannot be said for the Incredible and Nexus One.

I would expect to be able to call any land line without extra charges. On my home VoIP service, I pay about $25.00/month, but I have unlimited long distance to anywhere in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and most of Western Europe.

With Google Voice, when they get it all working, it should work the same way and it will be free.

Please correct me if I am wrong - as I often am....but I have never seen a phone or any digital storage in recent memory that wasn't something like 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, etc...but you're saying it'll have 10?

Maybe N1 + 4G?

Thanks to everyone that chimed in to answer my questions about VOIP and Skype and whatnot.

Getting back on subject though, I JUST got an email from EVP (Employee Value Program) about the EVO and the "pre-order" list I joined through EVP. I had to do 3 different print screens to get the entire email and I'll post up pics of the email as soon as I can.

Greetings all!! First time poster here. I've been following (lurking) here with great interest and really enjoying all the insights, viewpoints and creative banter about my next phone, the EVO. I wanted to ask a follow-up question about the HDMI output connector, but I can't find the original post (was it drksilenc or reallynotnick?).

Has it been stated whether it's a mini, micro, Type C or ???

I see HDMI cables listed on eBay that run from $4.60 to > $30.00.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I vote that any post containing any ozcarguide links be deleted =P.

Seriously, that's one of the most garbage websites I've ever seen and it's a bit annoying that people keep posting links from there.

Also, no offense to anyone, but I'm honestly surprised how many people here were actually waiting for a new Blackberry before the EVO was announced, I guess it has to do entirely with brand loyalty, because even the Palm Pre, Pixi, and *gags* the Iphone are significantly (just slightly) better devices than any Blackberry I have ever seen.

Sorry for the rant, but on another note, I would totally consider using the 4G hotspot function if I lived by myself, unfortunately I cannot see this working well for anyone except for people whom lived alone. It would be too unreliable for other roommates/family members.

I believe they said it was mini type d and it is not available yet.

IF sprint is still to get a nexus one, comparing the $179 subsidised price on tmo, it might be similar on sprint. this could possibly make the evo $250.

and about the evo getting 10 gb storage could mean 8gb internal + 2gb card.

Will the internal storage be recognized? The Incredible has had problems recognizing the internal storage.
