Actually, using Google Voice does use your minutes.
Googling comes up with that answer, for me at least.
There are ways around this...

I hope your right. I was in my local Sprint store, replacing my wife's Pre... Going for sale on craigslist or trade for a hero..... and there was this guy in the store complaining about Sprints Coverage and his Blackberry and another guy just complaining about the Pre all together. Both of them we're on there 4th or 5th replacement and you know what that means... 6th replacement and you get to move over to another phone. We'll the Pre guy's intentions were transparent enough, but the trucker that hated his blackberry kept saying he's going to Verizon.
So I asked, if it was because of the Incredible... he had no idea what I was talking about. I further mentioned the Evo and he still had no idea what I was talking about.... I couldn't believe it so I pulled up Bill's page on phandroid and he was in awe! I explained 4G, but I also told him about hows it's not everywhere, but in most cases it will be. This guy looked to be in his 40's and didn't know what 4G was. If Sprints going to do something, it needs to be more than whats out there now!
I've seen the 4G commercials, but unlike the rest of the commercials I fast forward through, I actually watch Sprints Commercials. This guy seemed to care less. We need to see it stepped up a few notches. Look at us, how long have we been waiting on new news. We'll wait because the EVO speaks to us in our dreams, like a siren at sea or what ever... Sprint needs to get to the mainstream audience that only knows blackberry or iPhone... Just say'n...!
Hi all! Wanted to introduce myself - I am a LONG time lurker (been wanting the supersonic -> evo since I first heard rumors about it late last year) that finnaly decided to show myself. I have an ancient nokia dumb phone on AT&T and will be switching to the EVO once it is released. I am super excited about the android platform and am even thinking about doing some simple app development for it. I am usually a pretty quiet guy when in forums, but I will always be lurking ;-)
Really? That was one of those things I have been doing for years now. 3G is most definitely fast enough for web browsing and watching videos. Sprint's EVDO Rev. A gets me something like 600-800kbps which is plenty for loading web pages etc. on the road. I think I have even been tethering since PDANet on my 1xRTT Palm Treo 650 back in the day. It still beat no internet access on the road even if it was like slow DSL. I think speeds on that were like 2.5x the speed of dialupNothing like the Evo but totally useful back in 2004/2005.
I'm with u I HATE dial up. I love having road runner high speed internet. And I have a modem in my home so, I would use the hot spot whenever I am visiting my folks or in laws. Love to be able to use the highspeed any where.Just never had much need for it, I guess, so I never looked into tethering at all, let alone wireles tethering.
But yeah, I get your point of it beating no internet connection (and probably even faster than dial up...LOL...had to bring that up because I just watched a movie where the town the character was in ONLY had dial-up).
The event is also about boasting Sprint's new relationship with Disney.
why is the ear speaker red? I thought it was going to be silver.

Well, I guess there are some perks for having to use an electric wheelchair. I had the guys in the shop install a cigarette lighter on my chair. Now I just need a car charger and I'm good to go.HTC Car Dock is #1 priority
As long as there's a microUSB>USB cable, that'll work for my need to charge at work.
But on the road, if I'm out and about, I'd like to get that solar key chain charger that I was reading about. That'd be ideal, especially because my phone batteries always seem to go dead when I'm not near a car charger or home charger.

LOL ROFL LMBO thats funny. But cool to.Well, I guess there are some perks for having to use an electric wheelchair. I had the guys in the shop install a cigarette lighter on my chair. Now I just need a car charger and I'm good to go.![]()
Looks like a sweet looking phone, but I doubt that Sprint would get it. I have never seen a Nokia phone on their shelves. Either way I will stick with Evo.And just like that...April is pretty much done. We're coming into May with a little over 2 weeks for the media event then after that, it's just one more month away. Hang in there folks! Welcome new people and long time lurkers, future former-iPhone users, future former-PalmPre users etc. I think there might be a ton of new media (video reviews, unboxing?, new specs revealed) in about 2 weeks.
Nokia seems to be trying to one up the EVO already in terms of hardware:
Nokia N8 goes official: 12 megapixels, Symbian^3, shipping in Q3 -- Engadget
But I still don't see a "4G" compatible in those specs![]()

ts ty for your hard work as a mod and bill thanks for this awesome thread. I appericate it a lot. Enjoying my day off today and catching up on the forum.Okay, before i go any further, I will say it again, that any curse words including those that are crossed out such as cur*se will result in the post being deleted.
Questioning a staff member's decision out in the open will result in a infraction, or a ban depending how bad it gets. Its in the user guidelines and if the post gets reported, we have no recourse but to take action.
So if you see that one of your posts has been removed and feel that it shouldn't feel free to pm me or one of the staff and we will explain the reason.
Also please post any google voice, waves requests or offers anyplace else (preferably in the lounge) but not in this thread or in the EVo section. It really does not have to do anything directly with the evo. At least not yet.

Now back on topic,
the Javitts center goes from 34th street up to 38nd Street and from 11th Avenue to 12th Avenue/West Street So it can't be that. By saying west of the Javitts it could be anywhere after 11th avenue since the main entrance is on 11th. So any of the properties on the north side of 42nd st from 11th and 12th avenue. South side is a construction site near 11th avenue and closer to 12th avenue is the new Silverstein properties, but looking at their website there isn't anything like a hall or space large enough for the media and a movie theater type screen. If he really means west of the Javitts, then you hit the piers, the Circle Line Cruise and a bit further north the Intrepid sea and air museum.
Although if i am not mistaken there are a few TV station buildings within that area.

I second that maybe more. We shall see. Evo nation here we come LOLWho wants to take a guess on how big this thread will get by the time we get a solid release date? I say 225 pages before we get a release date, and probably 350 by the time the device is released.

I agreeI predict an average of 4 pages per day, which would put it at 228 by the time the NYC May 12 event comes around. After that, I'm predicting double that average.
That is only assuming no "breaking" news gets leaked into the wild until May 12.
