Well my local best buy had no clue of the release date and just told me summer. Guess I'm not as lucky as you guys. But I totally agree with the doctor idea haha. Also by all you guys talking about work and kids, I feel like the youngest user here(I'm only 14) Think I'll be the youngest person with an EVO when it comes out? haha

that guy he talked to in the chat doesnt seem like he had a lot of info. all he said was "you are correct" idk. doesnt seem right. i do agree with him about the june release for the evo lol

I just feel a little more comfortable not giving away the exact address. No ones been right yet though. It's not at a huge place like the Javits Center.

Last year, Palm did a launch party at a Sprint store in NYC and all hell broke loose when dozens of non-invitees showed up. People who were supposed to be there got insanely upset at the people trying to elbow their way in and it was not a pretty sight.
 
Welcome, Vindico. All of the dates you mentioned are pretty close to all the rumored dates that have been floating around here. Right now, May 12th is the critical date in which I'm hoping we'll get confirmation on the release date and on pricing.

1. This has got to be one of the best kept phone launches in history.. I can't believe no one has scooped the launch date..

2. I Think the wait while overbearing some days is great marketing. The EVO has been in the news almost everyday since it debuted at CITA.. Marketing at its finest..

3. Anyone has a prediction on the number of units sold??

I realize this is totally contrary to what I was telling people the other day, but everyone has been trying to convince me that an early release date is possible. I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen, actually. May 12th is only a couple of weeks away and we should know a whole lot more soon.

Number of units sold is a tough one... Let me ask you this; are you still sticking with the same predicted release date you gave us the other day?

Hmm not sure I have no inside info on that at all. I liked the May 22 date because I figured if you keep those two big events prior 12-17 why not roll out the phone at that point? or at least pre orders

But Jackson seems to be the man as far as dates go.

I am assuming the 4g roll out still would play a major factor on that release..

But there is only some much 4G installs they can do before they will have to release it.

The roll out is tough because you set towers but they don't always meet expectations so you have to fill in the holes to try and make the coverage acceptable or tweak the towers.


My Prediction is it outsells the Droid and Iphone 74 day records
 
Here is a funny Best Buy story: I went in just to see what they would say the release date was for the EVO. Well, the guy I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about - hadn't even heard of it. So he goes onto his PC and comes back with an October release date! I was like ummmmm no....I thought it was really funny how oblivious he was to this new product that is going to be promoted by Best Buy.
