I just read the last few pages to try and catch up. I don't think SP confirmed that the EVO was coming out on the 22nd, I think he was just being sarcastic. I know when I'll figure out the release date....when Sprint tells me ;). The 12th is only 10 days away and I'm hoping that's when they give us a release date. As of right now everything is speculation IMO.

Remember people, this is a p-h-o-n-e.

It also have Froyo as well, and will be shipped with it, regardless of 2.1 being the only OS Sprint has worked on. Having said that, you won't read a single word from this politician ever again. Come on SP. This is all in fun. I have supported you every step of the way and have thanked you for nearly every post you made and now you want to treat me like I'm a rag? I can't believe I'm supposed to take everything you or Jackson says for gospel. It doesn't work that way.

Edit: no matter what happens, I still support you and Jackson. Both of you have inside information, but Jackson has been proven wrong before and I'm guessing maybe you are too on this one.

I was hoping that may 22 was going to be the date. But I now see that we are wrong, thank you self praise.

It is a shame that sprint is going to screw itself again.

To hold a contest that ends on may 9, and award a unfinished, bug filled, disaster to non tech minded contestants in may 20 will fix so many things at sprint.

Before you go there. You are implying that the only reason that sprint is holding the phone is software. And they will ship when software is done.

So either they are going to choose suicide by giving a none finished phone away as a contest prize, knowing they can not ship to the masses in may. Or the phone will be ready to ship by end of may and they are intentionally choosing to release it against the iphone.

This proves that sprint has not learn any lesson from the past. The evo will be a complete disaster.

Thank you self praise for pointing out the faults in may 22. They could over night the phone to the contestants on the may 19. And then release the phone on may 22.

But then they would have to have a finish product. Which they dont. I hope they rethink tackling apple head on AND they stop the contest. Please they really should not do either.

Thank about the real world testing that is not going to be done. If they do not have a real world model by now. They will never test it against any real world network.

My god we are all going to be alpha testers. If you are right, this is going to be the Blackberry Storm/2 for htc. You say they are not going to release it with 2.2. They do not have a final os. So they are going to release a wimax patched phone to contest winners?

This is going to be a nightmare. They need to cancel everything and push it back a month. If they do not have a finial os by now. They need to stop.

Exactly, SoFLO. That's what I've been saying all along too and I don't see why SP is being overly sensitive, just because I questioned him/her. I've only been trying to stimulate interest and to downplay all the BS.
 
SP I would like to thank you for all of your posts. I hope you change your mind and don't leave. I was looking for your insight to calm things down a bit yesterday.

Just think about it, we have not had the pleasure of holding an EVO yet and are getting a little stir crazy with no real new info for a few weeks. come on May 12th.

Thank you ROI. I can't see the phone being announced May 12th to the general public and not have it available until June or July. That would be a total disaster!!!

May 22nd is the only day that really makes sense unless there really is some major problem with the phone. If that's the case, all the promotion needs to be stopped now until everything is ready. I don't think that's the case, however. I think SP is just misinformed and he/she's is overreacting. I still expect to see the phone released May 22nd.

1st off, stop acting like you're leaving this forum. you've made that threat like 5 times already, and here you are still posting. so, just stop it lol.

2ndly, if it will get upgraded to froyo down the road, what kind of time frame do you see for that? as long as it took the droid to get 2.1? (nov-march or whenever it got it). will the sense UI on the EVO cause it to take even longer to get froyo on it?

Don't worry, I'm not going to get all carried away. This has been a very good thread and I'm not the least bit worried about it getting out of hand. If SP comes at me again, we'll take it to PM where we can iron out our differences. All is good, really. :)

Alright, cool. I feel the same way about it, too. It's a great thread and I don't want little petty arguments going on for about three pages, giving users hard time to find valuable information.

Here is a thought. SP said, "Hint: It is not May 22nd" Could it not be May 23rd? He said everything is basically done, just waiting for it to be GOLD which could happen by weeks end. At that point, Sprint could push it up if they choose. We know that the winners will receive final production phones.

as far as we know and from what my friend at sprint store and his exectuive contact is saying is it will be a saturday like the pre. Because Saturday sales= more profit then sunday.. why? People still go to church you know lol
