Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Okay, everyone needs to take a deep breath. I've been upset today too, but I think I've made my point. The EVO 4G will be released this month - I have no doubt about that. SP disagreed with me about my firm belief on May 22nd, but now he's saying the 23rd is a good possibility. Okay, I'll take that, but no matter what, we'll have the official release date next Wednesday, so it's getting close and we'll all have our phones soon. Very soon.

Please!!! There's no sense in fighting and name calling. If you guys have a problem with each other, I'd appreciate it if you'd take it to PM and not here in the thread.

lol this whole evo release date thing is messing with my head. never been so interested in a date of a phone release. cant wait to get this information so i can lead a normal life again that isn't consumed with F5ing this thread. On the flip side, its cool that everyone's excited about this phone.

My heart is voting for the 22nd, my brain (I.E. knowing Sprint all too well) is voting the 6th.

As much as I'd love to I'm not voting for a May 22nd release. If it makes you feel any better I wouldn't vote for a June 6th or 13th either. I'd have to go with a summer release date, the first day of summer this year is Monday June 21st.

Now do I think it's possible that the Evo will come out before that, yes it's possible. But I don't believe anything until I see facts, and until then the only ads I've seen say coming summer 2010 so that's what I'm sticking with in my head. Worst case scenario I'm wrong and I get an early surprise, how sad would that be?

Nah, the 6th would be a train wreck. I'm really hoping this banter between you and SP is over. If not, you really should take it to PM, because it's a downer having it in the thread.

I'm starting to agree with you, capthr.

Edit: We were even criticized for talking about WiMAX yesterday, even though this is a WiMAX phone. At least we had something to talk about and eieio said yesterday as he was leaving. "it was a lot of fun today". Everyone was having a good time, but today it's a whole lot about nothing.

SP had the right idea when he said TS is going to delete all the off-topic posts anyway, but the poor guy is leaving for Paris on Wednesday and won't be back for a week. Unfortunately, he's going to miss all the fun, but I hope he has a nice vacation, anyway.

While TS is gone, we'll probably get Slug back here again and he shows no mercy, so be prepared. Maybe we should all take a week off and come back after Sprint makes the big announcement on the 12th.
 
According to HTC’s CFO, Cheng Hui-ming, HTC’s shipments are expected to increase by 50% over the next three months, from 3.3m handsets in the first quarter to 4.5m in the second quarter. These numbers said Cheng Hui-ming, “indicate the growing popularity of the Android platform in Europe and the US”. HTC just launched the Google Nexus One in the UK and Droid Incredible on Verizon. One of the most anticipated phones this summer is the 4G Sprint (S) Evo, also from HTC.
Microsoft and HTC have signed an intellectual property license agreement over smartphones that run Google’s Android operating system. HTC should see an additional boost when partner Microsoft releases Windows Mobile 7 later this year.
HTC’s performance outshines that of recently sold Palm (HP) and Nokia (NOK), who have struggled to gain traction in the Smartphone market. One of the reasons for Android’s success is that Google has put together a respectable collection of Apps, recently passing 50,000.

There is no new news whats so ever... it's Sunday and I like some here aren't all business. I think we can find a moment to enjoy a bit of humor here and there... This thread is what you make of it! When we have info we discuss it like mature adults. When there is nothing (ie. like now) we joke around a bit. Thats actually why I've enjoyed this thread. I see no reason to shut it down....

Just came from a sprint store in Bohemia, NY. The manager here informed me that the EVO is not projected to come out until late July, early August. He told me that Sprint 'feels that it would not be right to unveil a 4g phone if everyone does not have 4g access yet.' Seems like a crock of bull to me, but needless to say my heart sank into my stomach.

Breaths a sigh of relief..no other thread or sight is like this one..and I am new when it comes to android phones. I have had a windows phone..the blackjack 2 through at&t. It was ok for browsing the web..that was it. lol I am excited about the Evo. Bigger screen, flash, just like being on my computer. I can go to my fav places like pogo.com and fb to play my fav games and keep in contact with peeps a lot better. Oh and the awesome HDMI out put. See I am excited about EVO.

Well, Flash Lite for now...so don't get your hopes up that you'll have a full and unbridled web experience like you do on your desktop. It'll be close, but not quite there.

damn thats alot of phones a quarter, a million a month, 250k a week. Sprint should have more then enough if its released between the 22nd and june 13th

assuming sprint gets 50k a week dedicated to evo
