This is my situation.
I currently own a T-Mobile G1 and my contract expires Sep '10. Since the EVO is coming out in June, I won't wait until September to get it. I don't want to pay for ETF for T-mobile since I only have three more monthly cycles to pay.
What I was thinking is to lower my monthly T-Mobile bill to the cheapest price. $39.99 for 500 mins or so, no internet.
So I will pay about $45.00 in July, August, September. That's $135.00, I don't know how much if the ETF for T-Mobile, but I think it's like $350 or something.
Anyway, my concern is my phone number.
I want to transfer my T-Mobile phone# to Sprint. But I don't know if I can do it after my contract with T-Mobile expires.
Anyone has any idea on the best approach for me?
Thanks in advanced!

While the normal $200 feel still applies to subscribers exiting within the first 18 months of the plan, the carrier halves the fee to $100 for those with between three and six months left in their service. Those with three months or left pay $50; for those with less than one month left, the rate can drop below $50 if the customer's monthly rate is less.

You can always port your number, mobile companys can not stop this. They can however charge you depending on the situation. IF you are out of contract there should be no charge for porting your number though.
You won't need to pay the full ETF. I think in the last 6 months it drops to $100, and drops again for the last 3 months. I know because I'm trying to get my sister out of her contract so I can get her to Sprint!![]()

porting a number over during contract usually results in automatically cancelling ur plan. which means ETF.Thanks!
But when I buy the EVO, they give me a new number, and then when my T-Mobile contract expires and I can go to Sprint and port my old T-Mobile phone number?
Do you know how much they would charge if I am still under contract? One time fee? Monthly?
I'm not in the TV advertising business and I don't care to speculate anymore. Actually, I would be happy to speculate with eieio on an earlier release date. He's still going for a May release and when you think about it, May still makes more sense.I really don't think it will look all that different...and it's a silly ad, now that I view it a few more times. The phone never actually gets USED in it. Unlike the DROID ads.

If I remember right, you're in the business.Their first youtube ad had the same problem and we all bitched and commented until they re-did it.
Someone over there probably got hold of an internal or preliminary HTC promo and then halfassedly converted it for Youtube.
It's just poor transcoding.
Wow, that's even better! I am afraid to call T-Mobile and ask them these questions, and they're like
"Why are you leaving us"?
BECAUSE YOU AIN'T GOT THE EVO!![]()
Thanks!

And maybe the person meant May 12th? Just saying, because I take everything eieio says pretty seriously.I vote for May release also but I was told Evo training starts May 24th.
you will only be charge the month remaining that you did not pay and the ETF. not sure if they will automatically prorate, but ETF will definitely applyWell they will give you a new number if that's what YOU want. if you tell them you want to port your number they will ask you some info on your current account and they will port it over. If you choose to get a new number and buy the evo with a new number you will be stuck with that number. Only way you will be able to port it later is if you add a line and buy another phone. They cant port the number over later to an active new line. Well maybe they can but they WON'T so be sure of what you want to do before you buy the phone.
As far as what T mobile will charge, I'd think if you're under contract still you will be charged the flat rate amount for breaking a contract early PLUS any remaining time on your CURRENT billing cycle. So if you do it RIGHT after you pay a bill it shouldn't be a whole lot more than the ETF amount
I really hope that the add that was posted earlier was not official... it looks like some high school student did it in iMovie....
IMO if they let something like that go out the competition will walk all over them... especially with the Droid adds looking as pro as they do.
I have been repeatedly told earlier too. By everyone I talked to.Sorry I am moving while typing.. I know I know..
I do not believe the June 6 date.. For a few reasons.. I am speculating that it will come earlier..
Thanks!
