1) Radio Shack does wave all MIR's and upfront cost was going to be $199 no questions asked, as per what was released today.
2) With respect to credit they do check. My credit sucks and he told me I could have up to 5 lines.

BlueScreen, earlier today you said that both best buy and radio shack would have pre orders that would allow me to have the phone on the 29th of this month, before it's in sprint stores. I believed you had inside info so I trusted you on that. My birthday is this week and a lot of people have been asking me what I want, but I've put off answering until I knew if best buy would have it earlier than sprint stores. I went ahead and emailed everyone saying I'd prefer best buy gift cards as a gift. There's at least a couple hundred dollars of them coming to me. Like everyone else I've been waiting a long time for this phone and want to have it on the first day it's available. I thought you had real inside information about this. Then you say later that you were in the room when best buy turned down a pre order deal and only radio shack would have it. Then you said you will be at best buy tomorrow morning (in the florida keys while on vacation?) to ask if they have a pre order. Then you say you asked a radio shack employee wearing a suit in a store about pre orders and he said the 21st.

I guess I'm way too trusting or gullible, that I would put trust in a random person on the internet. If you actually did work on the phone, that's great, thank you. But it's now hard to put any trust in anything you've said because it sounds like a bunch of BS at this point.

It would be pretty tacky for me to email all the people who are kind enough to give me a gift and say, oh wait some guy on the internet is saying it's radio shack now, so give me a gift card from there, thanks. Don't bother explaining anything, it doesn't matter anymore, I've learned to just wait for official info and not waste time listening to rumors from random people on the internet. That should have been much more obvious to me before. Oh well.


I should add, since the above post is so negative, that I'm thrilled to have a price and OFFICIAL release date and all the new hands on videos have been a lot of fun to see. I can't wait to get the EVO!
 
But....now that we know specifics, we can't speculate...or link to ozcarguide...or call out others to leave the forums if they are wrong!!!

Seriously though, I'm happy we know, but I'm not happy I'm gonna have to wait 3 weeks, I'm going to go crazy waiting for it O_O
 
I used my other lines upgrade when I bought my Touch Pro 2. Got the 150 but no mail in rebate and I activated it on my line.. But I wasn't on everything data than neither and I wouldn't of qualified for the rebate anyway cause I was getting 10 dollar internet with a credit. But you should be able to use your other lines upgrade and ask for 70 bucks extra credit since your not getting the rebate for resigning for 2 years. My co worker did that and they gave him 70 plus 30 to makeup for him not getting the rebate. He used another line on his account too.

That's what I'm doing. Make sure it's at BB or RS though since they dont have any MIR's. Then once you get the Evo go home and transfer it to the number you want online or through customer service.

I had my buddy do it for me at BB when I took my Dad there to get his phones upgraded on his account. He wasnt eligible for an upgrade yet. Had 2 months to go and Sprint wouldnt let him upgrade at all. Instead they gave him a 20 credit on his account every month for 24 months to get a new line and the phone he wanted for the upgrade/new customer price. So then I had my buddy take the new phone off the new line and put the new phone on my Dad's line.

In the end Sprint ended up costing themselves more. They could of given him 150 off of a new phone but instead will end up crediting him 480 dollars for the life of the contract. Pretty dumb in my eyes.
 
I was prepared to spend $299 for the phone, so since it's only $199, that's an extra $100 I guess I don't mind paying towards the $10 data fee so that takes care of 10 months.

In order to get the full discount through Sprint, you can use your other line but you need to wait 30 days before switching the numbers or you lose the mail in rebate. Of course if you went through Best Buy, you don't have the 30 day wait since you get the full discount when you walk out the door.

There is a difference between paying for a service that is actually available for you and being force to pay for it even when its not.

As I said, I live in ny, there will be 4g coverage. But what about everyone else? There is only going to be a handful of cities that will support it. To force the tax just seems to be bad business practice.
 
We are now looking at this phone and a possible jump. However, last week we were told by the Sprint reps that the no-cost roaming will be available with the Evo. I'm reading something different on the release posted above.

Any thoughts, or are we SOL?

There is no roaming cost ( in the US)

Im sorry, I do feel for you but I have to say I shot soda out my nose while reading this and laughed so freakin hard. With that said I guess I'll be doing what everyone else is and hitting up my local BB and RS stores tomorrow to see what the deal is. Im sure there'll be a solid 5-10 pages of people giving the answers they got.. Cant wait to sort through that :rolleyes:

Whelp never mind I posted that too soon. Guess I'll just be making one stop at BB. I can wait the extra 5 days for BB as opposed to RS. Never been a big shack fan.
