Bummer...an awful lot of complaints over a phone that most people haven't held in their hands yet. We do all realize that Sprint is giving us the EVO at a KILLER price of $199? I mean, we do realize that...right? And that the specs are AMAZING and what most of us have been waiting years for from Sprint?

If the video quality is so disappointing, perhaps the Galaxy is the phone you should go with...and maybe such posts should go to that forum too?

In comparison to what, the video posted taken from the EVO above? Keep in mind, Samsung does make cameras (among other electronics), so they probably put a better lens on the Galaxy S compared to HTC, who is strictly a Cell Phone manufacturer.

But, in looking at the video you posted here, I don't see anything in that video that makes me automatically think that it shoots better quality vids than what the EVO vid would've looked like had it shot in the same exact scene/scenario. That's the only way you could do a fair comparison.
 
Wow Bill just got a Evo. Sucks he is not here to post up pics and vids. I cant wait to get my evo!!!!

LOL and today is the 21......
 
I think the complaint with the Evo video was not the lens but the amount of compression.
If it's only that it can easily be fixed by a software update. Get the Evo and send mass emails to HTC complaining if it does turn out to be sub par.

Just got one for a little over 500 on ebay. It works out pretty well since i was going to wait at the sprint store on release day morning and buy one off contract. If anyone is looking to buy one off contract, Ebay is a really good option since there are ebay buy it now postings popping up every few minutes.

Also make sure you have your paypal info up to date and ready because these things disappear really quickly! They literally vanish

Personally, I'm not concerned about the quality of videos the EVO will shoot. I'm still giddy that I'm getting a phone with two cameras, one of which is 8.0 megapixels, a beautiful 4.3" screen, a kickstand, a superfast processor, etc. And Sprint is giving it all to me for the same price I paid for my POS Instinct two years ago. No complaints here. :)

You are 100% correct. I was watching 6, and within 20 minutes 5 had ended!!! Luckily I got mine.

THanks! You're guaranteed an evo so you'll be all set. I had to get one off contract, and there was some ambiguity over whether sprint stores would have enough or whether they would even sell to ppl uneligible for an upgrade..etc..so i was like "screw it" :D

i'm not seeing a big difference. not enough to be the deciding factor in my mobile phone purchase, anywhose.

i got all excited when the palm pre finally got video recording. i used it twice, maybe. it's a nice feature to have when you spot a ufo or the loch ness monster or C.H.U.D., but i'll bring my dedicated video camera for my kid's ballet recital.
 
well, I am temporarily pacified by playing with the hero I just bought my wife and upgraded to 2.1. The phone functions much better, especially video quality with 2.1.

Coming from a touch diamond, it really isn't hard to impress me. I will probably cry with the evo, especially after the 2.2 update. I guess it is kind of good that I hadn't played with android yet, because i probably would have upgraded with the hero.

Two weeks to go. Two weeks to get android 2.1 down, research the apps I want, learn a lot from this site. I have to remember to work a little bit while I am doing all of this. lol
